Beenz Indian Grill & Bar — Restaurant in Town of Islip

Tonight was our first night trying Beenz Indian Grill & Bar and it was excellent! We have been trying different Indian restaurants for almost 3 years since our favorite one sadly closed down and we finally found it. We were a party of six including three adults and three kids between 8 and 16, with one adult being a vegetarian. We ordered several appetizers (paneer chili cigars, mushrooms, jalapeno poppers, gobi manchurian and a soup) and they were all delicious. For dinner we ordered the butter chicken, tadka dal, sabzai malai kofta, pepper chicken, tandoori chicken and tikka masala. Everyone sampled from each other and each thing was wonderful! The food had excellent flavor and temperature and was cooked and presented perfectly. We had gulab jamun and carrot halwa for dessert, and they were also both very good. As a side, I was told the whiskey sours and coffee were delicious and I asked for a lemonade, which they don't carry, and they offered to make me a fresh lemon lime drink from the bar that was outstanding. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very clean. We were welcomed and warmly greeted immediately upon arrival. From that moment until the moment we walked outside the staff was service were impeccable. Friendly, courteous, helpful and prompt. I loved it! I loved the atmosphere of the place as soon as I walked in. The decor in the restaurant really sets the tone and mood for the night. It puts all of its customers in a very calm bright happy mood. By the purple and green lighting, I feel very safe and calm and no negative feelings were felt as soon as I sat down. The light fixtures really are providing a festive feel for the winter season. Now this wasn’t the only thing that made me feel like I walked into heaven, but the food was absolutely to die for. First off, I want to start with the chicken lollipops. Beenz signature appetizer, and boy do I understand why. This dish was simply incredible. The sauce on this chicken amazed me, and provided a great addition to my vegetable samosa. I cannot begin to express how absolutely delicious the naan and butter chicken were. My taste buds were jumping with joy when the garlic naan first met my tongue. The combo of naan and butter chicken made me realize that there is some good in this world. Amazing how one dish can cause a person to feel this way. After having the most delicious meal on a perfect friday night, I.thought “this night cannot possibly get any better!” well I was terribly wrong. Bartender was AMAZING and the drinks were out of this world! I was pleasantly surprised with menu and prices. I have been eating Indian food on Long Island forever and Beenz is now my ONLY GO TO place for authentic Indian cuisine. I really appreciated all the vegan, gluten-free and vegetarian choices they had on the menu plus a slew of WONDERFUL vegetarian and non-vegetarian items to choose from. Makes ordering easy when you go with a bunch of friends that can only eat certain things. Good thing to note is that Beenz ONLY uses Halal meat if you are looking for that sort of thing. We started off with their signature drink called the Beenz Pataka. A DELIGHTFUL tropical mixed drink. YUMMY! My partner and I ordered the Tandoori Fish and Beenz Kebab Platter from the grill and both were SUPER SPECTACULAR. I would definitely return for both. The portions were so generous we managed to have some left over for lunch the next day. For appetizers we tried the Chicken Lollipops and the cheese stuffed Portobello Mushrooms. DEEE-LICIOUS! We ended our meal with a creamy Mango Lassi and a very tasty Gulab Jamun. Bellies were definitely full! Waitstaff was very knowledgeable and attentive.
