I have been here once before and I was honestly hoping I would have had a much better experience, especially since this was the first time my mom had even been there.
The food was expensive considering they won't cook the rice in front of you without charging you extra first. Other places even give you noodles at no extra charge for cheaper than these guys are charging. Yes, we did get steak and chicken but it really was at least 2 dollar cheaper than this place. Again, the food wasn't my issue it was actually good, that the only thing that I can say was good. We didn't even get much of a show...
My issue was with the service. The host was rude when we got there, maybe they had just opened and didn't expect people there so soon but there was no need to be rude. The woman who handed us the menus didn't hand us the menus like other places usually do she placed them at the end of the counter AWAY from where we sat. Then when I was ordering I noticed a smaller menu hidden in between the rest and wanted to look at it quickly to see if there was anything else we would have wanted. Instead of saying ok I'll come back she stood there hand extended waiting for it to be handed over.
There were also other people sitting with us and they offered them a to go box but not us and they clearly had some for us but just walked away with them instead.
I wanted to tip the man who cooked for us and she didn't seem all too pleased with that but he was actually kind, cooked the food well, he even SMILED not rude at all. She wanted a little but of his tip too and no I am sorry but I believe if I am going to tip it will be the person who actually gave me good service that is the point, in my opinion. His service is the reason they at least get 2 stars.
All in all I'll be sure not to go back or recommend this place to anyone. Rather go to Aji or Izumi for...
Read moreGasho, this used to be a great place. It was a family tradition each and every year. We even braved the 2010 blizzard back in the day and went to Gasho being the only people in the restaurant giving them business that night. ownership changed a few years ago and we continued to go. We have been going to Gasho since the 90's. However, I have come to realize that the new ownership really does not care about loyal customers. A family member called to make a birthday reservation for the round table there recently. They were told to call back on a certain day because it was too early to book. Ok, so of course the family member called back that day and then was told sorry the table is booked. Question, how is it booked if you told my family member the exact day to call back to book the reservation? Seems like what happened is whoever picked up the phone the first time just did not want to make tyhe reservation at the time. So after e mail and phone calls to Gasho making them realize who my family is they and this new ownership would not budge. I am not saying to cancel this other persons reservation but if you tell someone something and they listen to you and do what you said then be a little nicer and accomodate and make the table they need available. I have noticed over time the new management there now is not nice. I have seen the way they deal with people and honestly I would say go someplace else. Go to a hibachi place that will welcome you and treat you good. It's sad that they are not loyal anymore and seems like the only thing they care about these days is $$$$. (trust me it reflects in your pricing) So my family will be heading to a different hibachi place that is welcoming and they put on a great show. it's sad that Gasho and its management these days don't care not even a little...
Read moreI love Hibachi, but this was just horrible.
First, The Service I never been somewhere with such horrible service. Our waitress dropped the menus on the grill, left them there, they started to melt (plastic) and it took them 30 minutes to clean it up. The waitress also sighed everytime we asked for something like a drink.
Also, my wife left her purse so we had to go back and get it (5 minutes later), they went through her bag! And gave us a hard time about giving it back.
Second, The wait time We went on a Saturday night, so it is understandable to wait a little. But we had a 7pm reservation, and didn't see our chef until 8:45. We had our soup at 7:50 and salad at 8:20. Anywhere I have been for Hibachi, you are given your soup and salad together and quickly, and never have to wait that long.
Lastly, The Food Our food obviously was late, but it wasn't cooked well at all. I usually leave Hibachi with a lot of left overs, but the portion sizes were really small. MY SALMON WAS UNDER COOKED, and the chef gave me a hard time about asking to put it back on. The worst part was, that it was so burnt on the outside but horrifically cooked on the inside.
Also, they do not provide Yum Yum sauce. This is key for us, and we get this at every Hibachi restaurant, but not here....
Overall, the place looks really nice, and I'm sure some people enjoy their food, but my table, and a lot of them around us received TERRIBLE service. I would recommend...
