IHOP has been an "on again-off again" affair through the years for my wife and I. Currently we are returning every now and again. My last visit, 07-09-23 was good, service person was really good, food was basic IHOP. When we were seated, the hostess laid out the menus in front of each of us with the "Happy Hour" menu on top. Its the first thing you look at, and its pink and red, and it has your attention. All three in my party ordered from it, and actually pointed to the items we wanted with the waiter. He wrote it down, served it and then charged full price. I questioned the bill, he stated that it wasn't 3pm when we ordered (it was 2:45). The happy hour price is good being that the sandwich was "small"(BLT was one slice lettuce two thin slices of tomato, and two slices of bacon), very basic, but I thought I was paying $6 for it, so I expected the size to be small. But, at $12.50, it's a rip-off, period. I mentioned it to the waiter, and he offered the senior discount of 10% off, which I declined, saying that was only about one quarter of the reduction I was expecting with the implied deal. He said he couldn't make the full reduction, but could just comp one meal. I accepted it even though I still paid more than what I bargained for.
Just make certain whatever promo they place in front of you, is actually valid before placing your order. I can't imagine it is an accident the way this went. Most folks won't challenge this sort of tactic, which is why they do it. It's shady IMO, and should...
Read moreHonestly i was more disappointed how this was handled, we got to the location ready to dine in and have a nice meal. Until the boy at the counter brought us to our table, the first table we go to was next to a huge family with a lot of people, naturally it was very loud and asked the boy if we can go the one at the back corner so that we can at least be comfortable. Once we got there he said “i will be back with your menus” after he did set the first down but took it back, after like 5 mins we got concerned cause usually it would be in an instant with new menu. Then one of the young lady server asked “are you guys being served?” We responded with “we’re waiting for our menus” honestly it should already indicate we haven't even order food yet and just left. Once me and my fiancé kept wondering what was going on as we were looking at the boy from afar as he brought menus to people who just got to their table as we were still waiting for ours. That wasn’t the part that got me pissed off, what got us angry was the fact the boy saw us and knew we still missing the menus my fiancé tried to go up to him to let him know we needed the menus, he just walks away and kept standing on the podium. We had to leave the restaurant annoyed and hungry, and having it...
Read moreIt's been 17 years since I been home to Long Island and wanted to grab a quick bite. I figured IHOP was close and would be relatively quiet at 9:36 am. I was completely wrong. This specific location was packed!! At least 30+ hungry people waiting. Luckily I was by myself and scored a table in the walking aisle. Not my first choice for seating, but it was open and available. My waitress was friendly and checked on me regularly despite her workload. I ordered a large orange juice which was filled nearly to the brim; not short-changed like many other places. And I ordered the Big Steak Omelette which was more than I can finish. My side were the 3 pancakes since their "All You Can Eat Pancakes" special ended. I can eat. And I could NOT finish my breakfast. Excellent service. Excellent food. And received a Veteran discount. The only "negative" I can Identify is, they need more room for people waiting. There is limited seating and there were at least 25-35 people standing when I left. ...
