First, there were problems with the cards and making a 3 and 5 year old wait to play is not always a pleasant experience. We brought the cards back and the issue was corrected. I was there with many family members to celebrate a few Birthdays and after playing the games, it was time to eat. Six of us were seated but we asked for a table for nine because we were waiting for some more guests. The server came over and asked us for our drink orders. We ordered waters with lemon the side. The waters arrived but the lemons did not. Our other guests arrived and one ordered an iced tea and a water. The wait for these was ridiculous. We placed our food orders which included a steak cooked medium rare, burgers without cheese, salmon, etc. Time went on and on and on. There was no feedback from the server as to why this was taking so long or any follow-up as to where the food was. Thank goodness I had a granola bar and nuts with me because I needed food. There were also two children at the table who were very hungry and kept asking where their food was. I saw a female manager and called her over to explain the situation. I then asked a male manager as to what the situation was. He said that he was in the game area but would look into the matter. He asked what he could do for me and wanted to know if we needed drinks. Drinks? We are celebrating Birthdays and did not need the aggravation, we needed food. I have never run a restaurant but in my opinion, they were not very crowded so I am going to guess that they are working under poor systems. Why wasn't a manager on duty at all times? Is there something happening in the kitchen that needs to be addressed? Was the server not properly inputting the information? The food finally came and guess what? It was wrong. Once again, I needed to speak with the manager. I work in many areas but have never been a server but I will admit that the the job is probably very difficult but at least share the information correctly and listen to the needs of the customers. I spoke with TIna who did the right thing and took care of the bill. We still took care of the server but better systems must be put into place. I recommend a staff meeting to determine why there were so many issues during my visit. Are the employees not trained? Are they new? Is there a lack of teamwork? Whatever the case, it needs to be addressed. We live during tough economic times and if people are going to go out and spend money, they want to be provided with exceptional service and a quality product. I do thank them for turning a negative into a positive but let them work on these matters so that reviews like mine no longer need...
Read moreTraveled with my friend and her granddaughter from Nassau County to Suffolk County to pick-up my nephew for some fun before he headed back to Virginia and decided to head to Dave and Busters, Islandia which is close to where my nephew was staying with my Mom in Islip. Upon entry, it appeared welcoming at the front desk and more quaint than the Westbury facility. Soon after arriving, my friend and I loaded up the kiddos with game cards and headed to the bar. At the bar the waitress came over and asked us for our drink orders and promptly returned with the beverages. Then we requested menus and decided on food to order and then the experience went downhill. The buffalo wings and steak salad took over 45 minutes to come out and when it finally did, it was not great. Although my friend said the steak was good the salad only had a little bit of lettuce and nothing else. The wings were forgettable. Now the kids decide they want their highly anticipated chicken fingers and fries, which were oddly spicy for one and not spicy for the other. Not to mention the kids has no where to sit since the can’t sit at the bar and all tables are for waitress service..ugh! Luckily a nice man and his son shared his six top table with our kiddos. The kiddos asked for ice cream, so thought to kick up the order to include churros for my nephews upcoming bday. Well, not sure how dessert works, but would think it goes together, well not at this location as the ice cream came out 20 minutes before the churros and had to tell the kids to slow down on eating the ice cream before the churros came out. I go to check with the inattentive waitress and she’s like it’s coming as she’s packing up to leave. I then ask for the manager and he turns away from the POS with a blank stare. The only nice thing was the armed security guard, Pete came over and asked how things were going . Net net, don’t waste your time or money to go to the Dave and Busters,...
