Grace Deli — Restaurant in Town of Islip

i will never order from this place again. everytime i order something they forget something or give me the wrong item or get something wrong. it’s not hard to read an order to make sure it’s correct before you package it. they didn’t put the dressing i paid extra for in the bag leaving me with a plain piece of chicken in a wrap. paula said she would come drop off the dressing since i was only 3 min drive away (car is in the shop) and she never did. waited 15 min and nothing so i called they said she was out delivering it. another 15 min goes by i call again and she picks up the the store phone and says “ i went there and you didn’t answer the knock on the door!!! “ and i’m like dude i was sitting on my porch waiting for you the entire time you OBVIOUSLY got the wrong address…and maybe would’ve been smart to ask me my phone # before hanging up so quickly after you said you were coming. better yet the deli had my # because i called them several times but she wasn’t smart enough to ask for it or call the deli and ask what it was before she “supposedly” left my house. she kept insisting she had the right address meanwhile i was sitting on my porch for an hour for her AND have a ring camera on top of this that shows me sitting on my porch with no one in sight the entire time. at this point i’m just annoyed she’s calling me a liar when clearly she was at the wrong place made no attempt to contact me and i have physical video proof. it’s not even about the dressing it’s her utter denial, calling me a liar, and her being rude when she’s the one who messed up several times. she kept hanging up on me and wouldn’t refund me saying i need to call doordash in which i did and they told me the store needed to refund me on their end bc it was a mistake on their end not doordash in which she refused. these people have proven to be unreliable several times if you order something don’t expect to get what you ordered and don’t expect anyone to be kind or understanding or take any sort of...

While the prices seem decent, don't let it fool you. They tack on 50¢ extra PER TOPPING.This includes but not limited to, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, salt, pepper, vinegar etc. That's right salt alone cost 50¢. So if you want salt and pepper and ketchup, that's an extra $1.50 on TOP of advertised price.

Food is decent, cold cuts won't be heated if asked especially if you only spend the bare minimum. Heck, spend anything less than $7, you're treated as an non entity. May be slight racism I'm picking up as another African American patron who spent $10 was treated with less enthusiasm than a white gentleman who bought a slight less meal (white male was given a smile and excessively pleasant service). But nothing blatantly overt. Best to come here if desperately hungry and on the go if nearby. Not an every day thing. Also I was charged tax while three white patrons we're given a flat fee. And we all paid cash.

Lastly, the cashier says really outlandish things that would be a wrie up in any other retail establishment. For example she tried to tell someone where they're from based on their accent and questioned them when they said they weren't of that origin. Can be very snarky and condescending. And just doesn't know when to not speak....

Horrible experience. Stopped in on the way to the ferry with plenty of time to grab a sandwich some drinks and head over.

After waiting 20 minutes, while watching people stand around behind the glass they finally started making the sandwiches.

After the first ten minutes the guy at the register tells us they're working on it. Then another five minutes the guy making the sandwiches let's us know they have a lot of online orders. After 20 minutes we asked the guy how much longer to which he says "I don't know they're making it. There were orders before yours".

Mind you when we got in there was 1 person ahead of us and 1 person waiting. We now watched five other groups come and go after us plus the people before us go. After the 20 minutes the guy started making our sandwiches as we can literally see through the window.

Horrible experience. Slow beyond belief. Random I'm assuming employees coming in but not working as they look like they went for a run just walking around chatting with everyone sweating on everything.

Avoid if you want your food in a timely manner or don't want sweat...
