A semi regular at this diner, I went for dinner last night with my son. I chose a chicken dish ( don't recall the name) on the special menu. We first got a salad, then choice of soup. When my dinner arrived, I was surprised at the size of the portion! There were huge chunks of chicken, a huge amount of pasta ( whole wheat by the way!) Tomatoes, artichokes etc. Sharing with my son, I even have more than enough for dinner tonight! In addition, and to my surprise, desert was included! I did opt to pay the additional $2 for the cheesecake- coffee included! I'm sometimes cautious to get pasta at a diner, as it certainly is not a Italian restaurant. I will say my dinner was delicious! Absolutely impressed. For $30 you get salad, soup, a wonderful meal, and desert, plus enough for dinner the next day! Great job Holbrook Diner! I will have to visit more often!

I ate here once and got breakfast for dinner as I have been sick and haven’t eaten in over 24 hours. The OJ was $5.25 for a large but that’s the world we live in…most diners really markup the drinks….when I do go out to eat I really don’t do diners but today was an exception….The food was exceptionally good and so was the service…I would definitely recommend based off my one visit…and remember people…unless your server did something absolutely horrible. You should still be tipping 20% at the very minimum for even halfway decent service as you should give them the benefit of the doubt even if they weren’t amazing…we are all human…if you can’t afford to tip then you can’t afford to go out to eat…

I came to this diner for the first time and my experience was not good. I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap and when it came out it was cold, the cheese was congealed as if it was sitting around, the chicken was regular not buffalo and it was FILLED with tomatoes. I was not happy and when I told the waiter he got annoyed at me while I was explaining my various issues . I had to order a different wrap which was much better. The cole slaw that was brought out to our table was warm and had a pool of mayonnaise . It smelled so bad that we had to ask the waiter to take it away.

I would never go to this diner again for the mere fact that my friend and I were disrespected by one of waitresses. We had arrived for breakfast, ate our meal and our waitress printed the receipt early because she was being switched to another section. The diner was not busy at all so we stayed a while. No one came up to us to say we needed to leave or to offer us anything else so we drank our coffee and talked. All of a sudden a different waitress walks by our table and under her breath says a comment about us not leaving, goes to the computer and asks another waitress to check how long we have been there. Instead of coming up to us to ask if we need anything or if we were ready to pay she proceeds to say to the other waitress that we don’t have jobs and are taking up space in her section (which had 5 empty tables). She continues to run her mouth to her coworker that we are disgusting and disrespectful for being there (yet she never came up to us once nor did we say anything to her). Once we knew she was talking about us, my friend said to the waitress that we do have jobs. Because we said something back to her the exact words out of her mouth were “do you want to fight?” She then walks to all her tables to complain about us and told the table behind us that they should order something and charge us for it because we don’t know when to leave. She continued to complain about us to her coworkers but not once did she tell the manager or have him come over to us to tell us to leave. As she’s walking around talking about us, she decides to make a comment about my weight saying “maybe if you didn’t sit so long you wouldn’t be so fat.” We get up to pay our bill and leave, we ask to speak with who is in charge and we tell him what happened. As we are talking to him, she smirks at us and makes a nasty comment then proceeds to start yelling at my friend to the point the manager told her to walk away and he had to speak with us outside just to get her to stop coming at us. This waitress is a grown woman, not a teenager. If there was an issue with us staying, there’s a way to talk to people and tell them to leave. No reason to ask us to fight and comment on my weight. Trashy,...

This has been my go-to breakfast spot for a while, but they just lost a loyal customer.

The waiters are great and the owner is very friendly. The food is hit or miss; usually just okay and occasionally good. Same for the coffee.

I’ve ordered the corned beef hash and eggs a few times, and for something like $16 you get a good portion of food—but I’m certain it comes from a can. With coffee, tax, and tip, it’s $25 for a breakfast that consists of a can of corned beef hash. Elsewhere, for the same price I can get real, fresh corned beef hash. So, I decided I’ll just never order that here again. Fine.

I just left after ordering my usual omelette, and decided today that I wanted some bacon with it. The food was okay—the home fries were not so great today, the coffee had a weird flavor, and the omelette was burnt, but at least tasted pretty good. The bacon was disappointing….4 slices of some of the smallest, paper thin bacon I’ve ever seen. The real kicker here, and the reason why I don’t see myself ever coming back here, is that those 4 puny slices of bacon cost $7.

I asked the owner about this when I paid, because I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the check and wanted to make sure it was correct. Sure enough, that was the real price. He tried to justify it, but there is no justifying that—just from his facial expressions, I could tell that even he knows it is just wrong. He looked ashamed, and honestly…he should be.

I understand that things are expensive, and prices are always on the rise. But, there’s a big difference between that and flat out highway robbery. The rest of the menu is already expensive enough, but the bacon…that is just a deliberate ripoff and entirely disrespectful to all of the people who come here and spend their hard-earned money.

From now on, I will be going somewhere else where the food is better and they don’t bend you over a barrel for it.

This is just bad business and the reason why places like this will have their...

I hate writing bad reviews and would encourage anyone to try out this diner and judge for yourself…but this was just a miserable experience tonight

The food. My daughter got a grilled chicken sandwich. It looked fine and she said it was good. I got a hamburger deluxe. Tasted fine but a very small burger for a diner. Very little lettuce given but ok. My wife order a crispy bacon sandwich. The bacon was rough and rubbery and she barely ate it. It also came with a few noodles on the plate which was kind of disgusting, but could’ve just fallen off the plate of another order that was ready to be taken. But if you are offering a CRISPY bacon sandwich then make sure you know how to make crispy bacon.

We were seated at a booth right next to the kitchen. The doors open and close non stop and every single time they bang into the side of the booth. This became incredibly annoying very fast. If it was the last booth or seating available I’d understand but there were at least 4 other booths that were unoccupied we could’ve been seated at. If the owners are reading this you should really use this booth as the last one available. It really was incredibly annoying.

The waiter was unfriendly to say the least. Not mean, just completely uninterested. No matter how nice I tried to be to him, saying thank you every time he came over, and even smiling, he was just in a bad mood I guess. And when my wife asked for mayo for her sandwich he literally reached over her head to pass it to her instead of taking 3-4 extra steps to come around. Very rude. So again if the owners are reading this and know what waiter was working this booth just talk to him and let him know his demeanor was really bad. He made us feel unwelcome from the very beginning.

Wish we had a better...
