Last weekend, visited this establishment for the very first time and not disappointed. My wife and I used to visit Brickyard BBQ while at Lewiston but sadly their food and service went downhill and we decided to give TPA a try. Evidently TPA and Brickyard have the same owner. Still, the service at TPA is much friendlier. I ordered chicken wings, and they were cooked exactly the way I ordered it - dry, not undercooked, unlike lately at Brickyard. My wife ordered crab cakes and enjoyed them. The only complaint was that they are a bit burnt but not critically. Also, we ordered a take-out for my mother-in-law, stuck with Reuben - wrong decision; it was burnt and lacked the taste. The beer selection is somewhat limited as compared to Brickyard but the TPA Resurgence IPA is amazing - Brickyard has nothing comparable in terms of quality. As for the atmosphere, the building, the furniture, the washroom, everything is a bit rundown, but strangely it brings some sort of a satisfying retro feeling. That is probably how the traditional US eatery should look like, even though some minor renovations would not hurt. Overall, quite happy and plan to visit this...
Read moreI want to start by saying our waitress was great—she was attentive and apologetic, even though the issues we experienced weren’t her fault.
Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was disappointing. I ordered wings, which came with carrots that looked like they had been sitting out for a week. Honestly, if I were kitchen staff, I would have left them off the plate rather than serve something that clearly wasn’t fresh.
I also ordered two martinis. Both arrived barely half full. I mentioned it to our waitress after the second one, and she kindly checked with the bartender. The response? The glasses were “larger than normal.” As someone who has worked in the bar industry for years, I can confidently say they were standard-sized martini glasses. On top of that, the drinks were poorly made—I definitely should have just ordered a seltzer.
What really sealed the deal for me was seeing the bartender drinking during her shift. That speaks volumes about the overall level of professionalism and service here.
Every time I give this place another chance, I end up disappointed. Sadly, this visit was...
Read moreUsed to love this place, always a good time and great food. That being said, went there tonight for dinner with my girlfriend and her kids. What a huge disappointment. Ordered the fried pickles for an appetizer. I wish I would have taken a picture, because the presentation was gross. 5 Fried pickles from a bag thrown on a plate over some wilted greens. I got the fish fry for dinner. The fish was greasy and just didn't taste quite right. Both kids ordered the Kids chicken fingers dinner. Now, I realize it's a kids dinner, off of the kids menu, but, you'd think there'd be more than 2 chicken fingers on the plate. And on the past, there always was, both kids were still hungry after the minimal portions they received. My girlfriend got the buffalo chicken sandwich and described it as, "a big chicken nugget on a roll with lettuce and tomato". To top it all off, they "Blue cheese" they served with the kids chicken fingers was cut with mayo to the point where that's all you could taste, was mayo with a few blue cheese chunks. Like I said, huge disappointment. Likely won't be going back...
