Our 1st visit. I've never felt less welcomed in a restaurant that wasn't fast food. Staff visibly sighed when she finally noticed we were there after standing in the entry for about 5 minutes. We were told no, with no other explanation (like someone reserved?), when we asked to sit at 2 of the 6 or so seats at the counter. Service went downhill from there. Yes, downhill. Indifferent. Rude. As though we were an inconvenience. I felt stupid asking how the eggs were cooked on the breakfast sandwich. Overhard. Nope. Pulled the undercooked egg out and ate the tomato, lettuce cheese, and what tasted like pre-made frozen sausage patty sandwich on unidentified toasted bread. My dining companion was asked choice of bread. I guess I got what he got? Had to get up and go ask for a glass of water. Got a sigh for asking. People were lined up waiting when we left. Is it the only place in town? Or do you have to be a regular from Lewiston to get decent service? My dining companion said his sandwich was "really good"... or this would have been a 1...
Read moreI ordered the Corn Beef Hash breakfast plus a side of home fries and my husband ordered 1 pancake w/ a side of sausage. Pancake was nearly as thin as a crepe but tasty & sausage tasted well done without being burnt. The cb hash: when I ordered, our very unfriendly server asked me if I was certain I wanted a side of HB because the hash had potatoes in it. I told her I still wanted them. I told her I wanted my eggs, hard scrambled (burnt is ok). She said, âOver well?â I said no, âscrambled extra well/hardâ. When our food arrived, my husband asked for extra butter & she took off. My eggs were visibly wet scrambled & my plate was 75% potatoes. I had to ask, âWhereâs the (corned) beef?â I had to send the eggs back for a longer cooking. Throughout our time, the server asked how we were as she delivered the check after we...
Read moreWas in town visiting family and wanted to go out for breakfast. Was advised to go to the Villa. I tend to like local places, especially those frequented by people with "flavor". Debbie, the cook/server/ cleaner has worked there for 40 years. Her longevity is a testament to her personality and skill at making people comfortable and welcome. She has a sharp wit, and obviously enjoys the back and forth with both regulars and newbies. We both had the corned beef, mine with over easy eggs, my wife's with poached. Both were perfect. And the DiCamillo toast was stellar, as always. That bakery is legendary. Pricing was small town moderate, which for us (DC area) was inexpensive. A great find.
Went again yesterday morning. The corned beef hash is really good. We had enough for breakfast this...
