I had an absolutely phenomenal experience at Black Dot! The moment I walked through the door, I knew this was not your average, neighborhood cafe. It was very clear that the owners put in a lot of time and effort into the design and aesthetic of the shop. From the counter top (coated in milk paint) to the shelf display stacked with delectable items (created by fellow entrepreneurs) to the bench in the seating area (with beautiful natural lighting), this shop was hand crafted with a sharp attention to detail. We haven't even gotten to the food and beverages!
This coffee shop boasts and exquisite menu with some of the best cuisine I've had in the Hudson Valley. The coffee was brewed to perfection - you simply can't go wrong with anything on the menu, whether it be an espresso or a macchiato, you're guaranteed satisfaction. Feeling hungry? Well look no further. Black Dot has an egg sandwich, made with croissant that's quite possibly the best thing since sliced bread (no exaggeration). Not in the mood for an egg sandwich? No problem - just try one of their original offerings of smoked salmon, pickled shallots, cucumber, radish and goat cheese on a sourdough baguette or have it as a plate without the bread - you can't go wrong either way. Last but not least, finish your meal with a pastry to-go to complete your experience.
Needless to say, this is my new favorite place and I can't wait to visit again - I might just have to make it a...

Cashier girl had this āmean girlā attitude. Really strange cause I didnāt see any cameras filming a movie. Barista didnāt talk much just seemed like heād rather not be making coffee for you. Which I get cause Iād also rather be at home extracting a better shot of espresso⦠ok to be fair he did make a really good cappuccino.
It just sucks that on your way back to the city from a nice trip that you get this stain on your experience because of their lack of compassion. Although I guess it is a talking point when you remember the trip with your friends and reminisce about that cafe you went to with horrendous service š¤·āāļø. Canāt know whatās good without a little bad amirite
Anyways come here for the food and drinks but donāt make eye contact or they might try and convince you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThree cheers for Black Dot! HIP-HIP-hoooo-boy-oh-boy . . . Itās very impressive to have lived almost 50 years in NYC only to discover the nastiest barista experience was actually to be found in a bougie cafe in Stone Ridge. Well done, Black Dot!
Interactions with the staff began as simply unwelcoming. However, things turned nasty when a mistake was made on a pastry order. Their behavior became like satirical ābad customer serviceā sketch (only not funny).
Everything else about the cafe is well curated. Itās all wasted when oneās experience is colored by snark and seeming disdain. How do I rate āAtmosphereā when the staff is so actively rude, they create an unpleasant environment? My partner and I did not make a stink or push back against each indignant response or snarky command. Whomever is in charge should know thereās a big problem with how they treat...
