Scott Daniels Auction and Gallery — Local services in Town of Marbletown

After I wrote this truthful review, Mr. Daniels started to recruit reviewers/friends, to build his reputation up again. It isn't shocking that he would do so, it is who he is.

If there were a way to pick 0 stars, I would. Sadly, this man, Scott Daniels, was referred by a family member; therefore, I believed my brother could finally start auctioning his extensive, vintage Beatle collection, which was in pristine condition. This collection was like no other, as it was collected for over 40 years. Besides his Beatle collection, his entire collection included a very eclectic and very diverse array of many other items, all rare and expensive.

When Mr. Daniels walked into my brother's home and studio, he was speechless and saw dollar signs; however, now we know he was completely out of his "element."

While Scott Daniels was looking through the items in the studio, he mentioned a story, which rose red flags. However, he used one of his tactics, his charm. The end result of the story was that Scott Daniels sold a rare baseball card for $82,000.00, without the owner's permission. Absolutely disturbing and shocking.

He quoted that my brother held items that were worth in total between $85,000. to $100,000. However, that did not turn out to be true due to his disorganized auctioneering. In the end, I believe the total amount was somewhere around $10,000. I believe it could've been much more if the auction was held differently.

Scott Daniels arrived just a few days later after our first meeting, with a truck, without notifying my brother, along with some staff members, and emptied my brother's studio, as well as many items in his house. This is when we started to realize Mr. Daniels was very disorganized.

The Auction was 6 plus weeks away, April 23, 2022. Right before the auction, my brother and I were told by Mr. Daniels, "there are so many items, we will have to hold 2 auctions." The second auction would be held on May 21, 2022.

Mr. Daniels uses a contract, he doesn't follow. I believe being organized in a business such as this one, involves the auctioneer writing a detailed list of all items to be auctioned, which Mr. Daniels did not do. Most importantly following with his contract, which states payment to the consigner 45 business days after the auction. He misplaced many expensive items, which cannot be found to this date.

I am completely dumbfounded that the BBB has rated him as a "BBB Top Rated Auctioneer." I will be contacting the BBB as well.

He had to be chased down for payment from the first auction. It took months to pay my brother for the first auction and Scott Daniels gave him a check he knew would not clear at the bank. Mr. Daniels made excuses as to why, then paid him via 2 separate payments. We still await payment for the second auction held on May 21, 2022. I just learned that due to this review, he now holds my brother's money hostage.

As I mentioned earlier, he was completely out of his element when he saw my brother's massive collection and didn't prepare correctly.

He may be able to auction a piece of art at a time, but this was something he shouldn't have taken on, as he didn't know how to go about it, and has caused extreme stress with my brother's health.

I would not recommend this person at all. He doesn't tell the truth and charms his way with excuses. He lacks professionalism and sensitivity to one's personal, vintage items. Stay away from...
