To be fair there are 2 aspects to review. The 1st (obviously) is the food and to that end the food at Trattoria 160 on the night we went was very good. Our group chose varied dishes, e.g., angel hair pasta fra diavolo with chicken scarpariello, grilled salmon, chicken parmesan, opening salads, desserts, etc. All were served hot, cooked just right and had nice mixtures of taste. However, that's where it ends and that's how I came to a 2-star rating overall.
The service and amount of time it took for dishes to come out was horrible. We arrived at 7:00 p.m. and while we didn't submit our orders until 7:15 p.m. the food didn't come out until 8:30 p.m., and even at that point 2 of the dishes were incomplete. When we asked the waiter a couple of times what the holdup was he just said the kitchen was backed up.But let's take a step back before finishing this part of the story.
The menu offered a prix fixe for $29.00 p.p. For that you choose an appetizer, a pasta, an entree, a dessert, and a choice of coffee or tea. So far, so good. One of our guests wanted to forgo the entree portion of the meal and asked that extra pasta be substituted. The waiter said that wasn't an option, which doesn't make sense. Here we're asking for 'less' in terms of bypassing the entree and only asking for extra pasta and are being told it's not an option. So, that diner had to drop out of the prix fixe and order à la carte. Another of the diners asked to substitute one type of pasta for another. Again, the answer was 'no'. In short the prix fixe is just that......FIXED.
So, the food comes out and two of the dishes are missing the pasta portions. We're told they'll be right out. Not so. After we're halfway done with our plates the manager/maître d' stops by the table and can see I'm not the happiest person in the restaurant. He personally goes to the kitchen and after a few more minutes the pasta arrives.
We finished our meals and ordered coffee and dessert. It's at this poing where the maître d' comes by and offers to buy us an after dinner drink as a means of apologizing for the long wait and incomplete service. While on the surface this may seem like a nice peace gesture the more I thought about it the more irritated I became. If their intent was to apologize why not say, 'coffee and dessert is on us', or 'we took 25% off the bill', or something. But to offer a drink to a group of 4 where 2 did not drink at all during the meal is lame and borders on disengenuous.
So, did we enjoy the actual food.....yes. Was it our first time there.....no. Was it our last time...
Read moreThe Ambience & Decor are very pretty,! It was my Birthday & expected much more from this place since I saw some great reviews. I was disappointed with the salad. I got mostly an iceberg salad & my friend got a mixed green salad. I didn't understand why I didn't get mixed green salad ugh! I ordered Lobster Risotto, at first it was hot & tasty. After a few mins, I realized it was all risotto & mushrooms, very small portions of lobster bits! The waiter promised it would have great chunks of Lobster in it. The waiter did go back into the kitchen & put a little bit more. It was still not fresh chunky lobster! I really didn't want all that risotto either! Loved mushroom in it. Broccoli Rabe was missing the sauteed garlic. It came out plain. I told waiter this, he brought it back to kitchen & now it was overly doused with olive oil...a tad bit of sauteed garlic. There was just not enough sauteed garlic!!! I get the vanilla ice cream gelato & cold chocolate syrup when I ask for hot fudge! I was surprised that the restaurant charged $12 for this. I have eaten the same dessert at other places, usually no more than $6-8. I didn't even get a birthday wish or candle on it. This was my first time ever at this Restaurant. I do like good portions, not skimpy. I'm disappointed in lack of service in celebration of my Birthday as well as the food was just not what I expected! My friend had the lobster ravioli with cream sauce, that was excellent. But it doesn't come with vegetable! To peter yes I have given some great reviews. Wow you are very disrespectful & not forthcoming or polite! . I will make sure to...
Read moreI went with a group of 20 people for a party and we sat in the private "wine room." The restaurant is very big and has nice sized bar in the back that is lit up in very hip blue lights. There is a back room for parties although I didn't go in since there was an event going on. We got there a little early and had a drink at the bar. Our bartender was great and made me one of the best dirty martinis I've ever had. After everyone showed up, we moved into the room to have dinner. One of the bartenders ended up being our main waitress and she was assisted by 2 or 3 bus boys to serve our dishes and remove our plates. We were given bread and bread sticks to pick on while we looked at the menu. Our orders were taken pretty quickly and considering we were about 20 people, everything came out at a good pace including the appetizers and entrees. We had baked clams and burrata to start and both were perfect. The sauce the clams were served in was perfect to dip bread in. I had the Veal Valdastano and it was amazing. Smothered in cheese and brown gravy and inside stuffed with fontina and prosciutto. It was AMAZING! After dinner the waitress came in and took dessert and coffee orders. She told us all that the owner wanted to buy us all a round of drinks which was a very nice surprise. I don't live in Pleasantville, but I would definitely take a trip back to go again. I had an amazing time and the food was delicious and best of all we were treated very well. Kudos to the...
