Mizu Sushi Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Niskayuna

Mizu is hands-down the best sushi spot in the capital district. The staff are so personable, attentive and friendly. The food is prepared promptly and served consistently fresh and delicious every time. I’ve never had an “off” experience. I can know that every time I order sushi here (about once a week on average), that it will be exactly like last time. The presentation is classy, as is the cozy atmosphere. I can say honestly that I have eaten here more than any restaurant, and I don’t plan on that changing any time soon. My family and I have a tradition to eat lunch here every Christmas Eve. We drive over a half hour to do just that, and I would drive an hour for it. I’m particular about sushi, and this should get more than five stars if that were an option, in my book. HIGHLY recommend. Ordered the hibachi chicken dinner…. Terrible…. Huge pieces of chicken huge pieces of vegetables tons of celery… hibachi is usually diced beautifully so easily edible no need for cutting it all…. But my favorite part is they served me white rice🤣🤣 I don’t know if you’ve ever been to hibachi dinner, but the presentation is all about the egg and fried rice to serve it with white rice is disrespectful and shows that they don’t care about customers they just wanna cut cost… also served with a terrible peanut sauce why would I want peanut sauce…. I think it takes like 6+ years to be a hibachi chef..: this guy had about 6 to 12 minutes training…2 out of 10… worth about 10 bucks not 20+… what a joke do not eat here it’s a rip off it’s like...

We were surprised at home close this place was to home. Inside, we found an intimate setting, 4-6 tables and a small bar. The overhead lighting was very pleasant, and dining are felt comfortable, cozy, and clean. Their food options had a wide variety of options, and our order arrived quickly. The host was extremely kind and friendly, she took our order and read it right back without taking notes. Her impressive menu knowledge made ordering very easy. We ordered and received fried oyster, shumai, miso, sushi, and fresh edamame, which came steamed and salted well. We crushed the whole order. It was really tasty:)

TL;DR small place, fresh food, great service, nice change from other food options...
