Mufu Hibachi & Sushi — Restaurant in Town of North Hempstead

I tried the chicken & beef bento box from here and it was great! It came with the hibachi meat, fried rice or lo mein (I took fried rice), veggies (cabbage, carrots, broccoli), 2 pieces of a california roll, 2 spring rolls and 2 fried chicken dumplings. It also came with this creamy sauce, that I think is mayo based (I’m not sure), but it was delicious! The food reminded me of Sarku, so if you like Sarku, you’ll definitely like the food here! They gave a lot of food for the price. They’re currently doing a stamp card where you get a free chicken hibachi meal after purchasing 5 hibachi meals, which I think is great to get customers back in. Water is free, they give you a water cup and you fill it yourself (like at Chipotle) which is wonderful because some places only carry bottled water that you have to pay for. They also have a photo op wall, for anyone who wants to take pictures. The employees there were very helpful and accommodating, not rude at all like some of the previous reviews mentioned. There’s a Chinese food spot located in the same parking lot as Mufu and they’re a lot more expensive, the food isn’t as good and you don’t get as much for your money. I wish i could give negative stars, The food has zero flavor!!! The hot teriyaki sauce they give out has the consistency of chunky pork gravy but tasted like flour. The tofu was nothing special. The beef looked precooked with how fast the food came out. The veggie side isn’t fresh or made to order which looked more like a salad with undercooked carrots and broccoli in greasy cabbage. They Gave us premade look like gas station sushi that wasn’t even the correct Roll and also not the correct amount we asked/paid for. The fried rice was flat out dry with the only thing added into it being maybe three or four pees. We took our food to go and they gave us no bags to carry out our meal. Just flat out disappointed in the food, the experience and everything in general with this place, not to mention the staff seemed untrained and underpaid. Sure it’s a new place but there are 4 or 5 other hibachi and sushi places within 2 miles of this location that do it millions of times better. This place probably would be considered good Asian food in Nebraska or a different flyover state but here in NY it feels like a glorified frozen meal you’d get at dollar tree. The inside of this place is beautiful, I love their cute little photo area. The service is amazing, you can tell that they care about their business. They really go above and beyond. The food is also really delicious. I saw some reviews about how it’s bland but that’s not the case. The beef is juicy and tender. It’s so savory and has a nice salty flavor to it.
