AVO TACO — Restaurant in Town of North Hempstead

Ok so after reading all the hype about this place we decided to give it a try 3 of us went to eat and this is what we found. Way over priced food wasnt seasoned well at all smelled like it was but when you bit into the SMALL flour tortilla we were met with disappointment. We started off with getting a few tacos to start just to see what was good the stake house taco had some flavor of liquor which was ok not the best and that was the only flavor we tasted. El flaco talk about bland meat we are used to cooking with flavor so when we see this its a huge disappointment. The street corn was AMAZING and that was only $2 the cheapest thing on the menu was the best tasting crazy right. The buffalo taco was pretty good the pretty spicy chicken wasnt crunchy enough. The Carny wasnt good either sauce was good that's all that was good on about all of them. The bandito same thing. What gets me is that for $4.50 they charge for 1 small taco that as right, you can get better tacos in queens off the cart for less with better flavor. I don't know maybe it was an off day but they weren't busy at all so they can't blame that. These places need real cooks who know how to taste and season good well. Over $40 of 9 tacos( 5 inch soft taco I believe) 2 drinks and street corn...should've went to taco bell.

Service was horrible friendly staff but this order on your own and someone will slide the food on the table when its ready is bad. We had 3 people serve us the first one that's what happend we didn't even know what she was doing till we saw the food she didn't say anything just slide the food and walked away. This to me is very impersonal just what it feels like an over priced place who wants your money. The other 2 people who served us we much more pleasant. First let me start by saying I'm a non dairy vegetarian. The first time I had Avo Taco it was brought to me by someone who went to the restaurant and it was delicious. I had the coco loco and the churrolitos. The coco loco came with fried shrimp, dry slaw, sweet chili sauce and coconut flakes. It was so good I went back a second time a few days later. This time I ordered online and went to pick up instore. I got the coco loco, floridan, and buffalo shrimp. I told them to hold the ranch on the buffalo shrimp since the sauce had dairy, which they did, so it's basically ends up as a sriracha shrimp taco. BUT this time ALL the tacos came with wet slaw meaning it was cole slaw was mixed with mayo or some type of creme or crema, so I couldn't enjoy it the way I was supposed to. Also all the descriptions for seafood tacos say crisp slaw, so I wasn't expecting that. And the coco loco did not the sweet chili sauce and no coconut flakes. I also had to wait 20 mins in store past the pick up time. It wasnt even that busy so not sure why. It also defeats the purpose of placing and order beforehand. I tried a third time this past weekend. Ordered coco loco and buffalo shrimp, no ranch. I specifically said I want dry slaw, which they did. However the buffalo shrimp was not drench in siracha sauce like it was before, it was dry ans had hints of siracha and this time cilantro was mixed in with the slaw. It does mention cilantro on the menu but none of my tacos came with it before. Consistency doesn't seem to be their strong suit. Maybe I will be back, but no time soon. I really do want to like this place, but at this point I don't know how their tacos are SUPPOSED to taste because they never come...

I was there Nov 21 at 530pm the bartender was the worst. The service was terrible. After waiting and the waiter having no clue that I was there I had to ask for a menu. I then had to get his attention to get a drink. This place is decent but the bartenders there can’t handle the bar. I would almost describe the bartenders I had today and the other bartender I had the week before as special. They have no business being bartenders if they can’t handle the bar. The food is good but I am done with this place because of the terrible service. I am a big foodie and have been to a lot of restaurants in a lot of big cities and by far today was the worst. Shame on me for going back after the bad service I got the first time I went there but todays bartender was even worst than him. These bartenders don’t know how to provide service. To add insult to injury the incompetent waiter tried to get cute and charge me full price for drinks I ordered at happy hour. Smh thank God I looked at the bill which I usually dont do.
