First time visiting. My wife saw this place on tik Tok, so we figured we'd make the trip to visit with some friends for a birthday dinner. Food was pretty good and came out fairly quick. It wasn't a busy night but it also wasn't empty. So to get food that quickly was pleasant. Other than it being a little salty, overall it was a good meal, and a decent portion.
In regards to the atmosphere, the music was on the louder side. The group I was with was having a difficult time trying to have a conversation. It felt like more of a bar vibe (which they do also have a bar) but not a place you want to go out and catch up with some friends and enjoy a dinner. I felt like a drill sergeant doing to my friends.
Staff was great. Very friendly greeting us at the door, they came by the table quite often, to check up on how we were doing which was great! They were on point.
As a gift for our friends birthday we decided to bring a cake. Didn't think much of it. It was like a 5 dollar cake from a supermarket. No one came up to us or said anything about it being an issue. Normally we would think bringing food from outside the restaurant the management or staff, would have the decency to tell us we either can't bring it or there would be a fee if you have that here. The waitress was nice enough as well to wish our friend a happy birthday at the table. (Which he didn't hear because it was very loud there) But I heard since I was sitting right next to where the waitress stood when she said it. But nothing else. We even had some looks from the other staff.. but again nothing else was said to us. It wasn't until we got the bill at the end where they told us "oh by the way there's a $5 per person cake fee." They were nice enough to take off $10 bucks from that fee. Sooooo, was no one going to tell us anything beforehand? Were you all just going to stare, as our friends blowing out the candle, and throw in the fee without telling us until the bill came? We don't mind if there's a fee, but at least have the decency to tell your customers about these fees or at least put it on your menu. Or better yet, post a sign at the door. That's just poor management on this establishment's end. Obviously I'm no professional, I don't have experience In this particular field, I go out, eat, and just want to have a good time, as does every other customer that makes a decision when choosing where to go out and eat. But make your policy transparent to the guest.
All in all the food was good, atmosphere was ok, but the music was just too loud. If you're going out to grab dinner with friends be prepared to raise your voices. The wait staff was very nice, but got a bitter taste after they added on this fee. Please be open with your customer and tell them if they're going to be billed with something before sending the bill. We could have easily just said no, and just paid what was owed and be on our way, but we were respectful to the "fee" that isn't posted anywhere. Normally restaurants would have a sign advising there's no outside food or drinks. And sure that might be common sense, but for a tiny birthday cake? It's not like we brought a entree. And with the staff just staring, not saying anything. What's that about? it gives the impression that what we're doing is ok. So of course we're going to do it. What If I pulled out a chocolate bar, would I be given another fee for that as well? Or would it let me know when the bill arrives? Were the mints also an additional fee? Or did you not see when I passed...
Read moreMy mother and I decided to walk in on 6/6/25 around 8pm. The restaurant was crowded but we were able to get a seat inside. From there that was when things went downhill. We were looking over the drink menu and decided on a "tequila flight", not once did it indicate that this would be shots of tequila as we were under the impression that they were different tequila based drinks. The waitress asked us if we wanted "margaritas or tequila ?". We stated we wanted tequila, and we then ask since it would be 3 different drinks how would we know which one was which? The waitress stated that they would explain the drink to us once it comes from the bar and she did not once state that these would be shots. When our drinks came to our table, low and behold we each received 3 shots of liquor. Immediately we get the attention of the waitress and explain to her that we were under the impression that tequila meant tequila based drinks on the flight not just shots. She stated that she asked us if we wanted margaritas or tequila. We explained to her that we thought it was 3 different tequila based mixed drinks not shots and we do not want shots. She then said that she would get her manager to speak with us. The manager comes us to our table, does not say hello or introduce herself, she stands right in front of our table and stares my mother and I in our faces as if we were supposed to introduce ourselves to her. After about a minute of awkward staring, my mother then begins to explain the situation at hand. The manager states well she told you that it was tequila or margaritas, we then told her that she did not tell us that it was just plain shots. The manager states well tequila is a spirit so, that's what you ordered. We told her we do not want these shots, if we can have mixed drinks and they can repurpose the same liquor so that nothing is wasted. She doesn't respond to our proposal, she then takes our flights away drops them off at the bar and walks away and never revisits our table again. There was no type of follow up or a solution. She was rude, disgusting and unaccommodating. I will never visit this establishment again. That manager needs some serious retraining as I see there are NUMEROUS comments about her and her...
Read moreFinally got to try the new restaurant in town Tulum! Inside you’ll find a Modern concrete sleek look with a touch of Mexican fiesta colors. We started of with the baby corn and yucca fries apps. The baby corn was ok it’s their version of Mexican street corn, it had a sour cream lime “creama” sprinkled with their queso fresco. The Yucca fries were great they were crunchy yet tender with a side of their chipotle ketchup and yellow aioli, I favored the aioli but it’s also good eaten with both sauces mixed. For our main course we got the Barbacoa tacos, the skirt steak tacos and the five cheese quesadilla. The Barbacoa tacos came with pickled onions queso fresco and cilantro, meat was very flavorful and tender I must forewarn you that these tacos are very small like the size of your palm and their so good you’ll just want more! But there are two things that I’m not sure if it happened by accident 1 these tacos came basically cold the tortillas were definitely cold and the meat on them were lukewarm and 2 there was no cilantro on the tacos. The skirt steak taco came on a sizzling cast iron skillet (I forgot to take a pic before we ate it) with four very nicely warmed 4inch tortillas served with pico, sour cream, and salsa and a side of your choice we picked guac, this was another favorite being it was served very hot and the meat was very tender and nicely seasoned. The five cheese quesadilla was also good it came with pico, sour cream, and a green sauce. Our dessert was churros and flan. The churros were good a little thick but still good it came with spicy chocolate which neither my boyfriend nor I could taste which was totally fine with us and a delicious salty caramel sauce which ended up being my favorite dipping sauce for them. The flan was outta this world it reminded me of my home made flan which hit the spot for me so it will always be a go to dessert for me. Overall we had a...
