Roost has been one of my favorite restaurants for sometime until my last two experiences. In September we were sat outside on the side of the building and waited 20 minutes and no one came over. I finally got up and spoke with the host. No apology, but a waiter did come over and then the rest of the evening went well. This past weekend I got reprimanded by the chef! We ordered the trout special. To our disappointment when it came out it looked and tasted xactly like salmon. I sent mine back even after the waitstaff assured me it was trout (stealhead) to be exact. I don't like salmon and would never order it for dinner. The rest of the table was okay keeping the dish because they don't mind salmon. I felt bad after and was going to apologize for not knowing the difference between steelhead (looks and tastes like salmon) and rainbow trout (a white thin flakey fish) when the chef walked angrily over to our table. He asked me if I wanted to see his receipts to prove it was trout and told me he wasted a sale. Then he promptly walked away. I seriously could not believe my ears. No matter what the customer is right and the situation should have been handled differently. Not sure if I'll ever go back there to...
Read moreWent for a dinner with my family to a supposedly high-end restaurant. after having the appetizers which the mushrooms and onion of the toast were totally burnt, we ordered four main courses with the main special of a prime rib on the bone 21 ounce and got a stinky expired steak.. Hope not to have an angry stomach. Even when I meet the owner and told her about the situation it seemed like she didn't care... They credit the steak and we paid the entire meal. The only thing that was nice in this restaurant is the waitress. My first time there and definitely the last.
Update: Dear owner. It's nice that you trying to show that you educating your clients with big words. But, I'm eating only aged meat for many years in very good restaurants, I'm even aging myself, and I know exactly how it should smell. this ribeye had a "pronounced earthy aroma" smell of a sewer and a "unique flavor" of garbage. So don't hide behind nice words. that meet was expired and shouldn't have been served. Also the way you handled it was absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional, this is the only reason I wrote this review, if you were handling it in a different way, the result probably were different and this review was never...
Read moreProbably my 4th time eating at Roost. The tall waiter had a rather poor attitude from the start. When asked about the West coast Oysters " are they like Kumomoto's?" he said no nothing like them and walked away. I knew we were in for an interestinhg experience. We ordered an expensive bottle of wine and while clearing the appitizers, the bus person spilled a glass all over my friend and I. While he apologized, the waiter who saw this didn't even come over to say anything. Three of us ordered meat entree's and two arrived over cooked. After our experience we just ate them since the hassle of dealing with him wasn't worth it. When asked if he intedned to replace the spilled wine ( never mind offering dry cleaning) he said he planned to "take care of it".We ordered dessert and asked what he meant by take care of it and he offered us a glass of house wine. While any restaurant can overcook a steak, the level of arrogance by this servier is not ok. I get the fereling like he is family or something becasue most servers would be afraid of loosing their job behaving like him. Dinner was over $200 per couple. I think we probably won't be...
