River Rock Diner — Restaurant in Town of Owego

1. THE STAFF: We were able to sit where we wanted and a waitress came to our table almost immediately to get our drink orders. The waitress was pleasant and attentive to our table, despite having other tables to tend to. Our food came within ten minutes of ordering.
2. THE FOOD: Our table ordered the breakfast burrito and the chicken bacon ranch wrap. The food came out hot and tasted amazing. The ranch on the wrap was homemade. I also ordered a separate chicken sandwich to go. That sandwich was good as well, and the staff had the foresight to pack the sandwich deconstructed so that the bread did not get soggy.
3. THE PRICE: Immediately, the price of the menu items stood out to me. With everything being so expensive, I was pleasantly surprised to see the reasonable prices of the food. The three items we ordered, plus coffee came out to $29. Unfortunately, I am not local; however, if I was, this would be my go to...

Wow!! My dad & I drove 12 hrs or so from Camden SC we were hungry & tired the morning we woke up in Owego. Found this tiny gem 💎 of a place to eat! My dad ordered sausage gravy over biscuits and loved it so much he talked about it for the next three days! I ordered a western omelet and it was amazing! The potatoes with it were so tasty.. You guys deserve 10 stars honestly. Our wait time to be seated was a little aggravating 😂 because the place was packed and I was tired from the drive and hungry BUT we were so pleased with the atmosphere and cuteness of the place and such delicious food the time we waited for a seat doesn't even matter. We thank you guys for such a great experience and great food. We live far away but will always stop in here now when we travel north. Thank you again!! Loved the adorable coffee mugs too!

I battled with leaving this review since it is my worst review ever. First, the staff was good and friendly. The Gyro omelette was good but the home fries were not noteworthy. What earned this score is that as I was almost done with my meal, I turned to my date and noted there was a bug crawling along the wall by the trim. The sad part is that it was a cockroach. It worked its way into the trim and then came back out as I was trying to overcome my shock. In the 6 years that we've been living in the Southern Tier, it was the first time I'd seen such a thing anywhere here. Again, the staff was very good, but something is very wrong.
