Diner itself needs a make over. Even tho the place seemed clean and an attendant was attentive to cleaning up tables and plates, the furniture was run down and dated. Same for the women’s room. The counter around the bathroom was chipped and rust and.. but paper towels, soap and tp were readily available, along with a automatic dispenser for a fresh sent. The place is under New Management, for how long I don’t know, so hopefully they’ll soon make the needed upgrades. With that said, arriving at noon, there was a good amount of staff for such a small place. We were greeted and sat immediately. The Server arrived to our table promptly for drink orders. Since we had a busy morning and no time for breakfast, we decided on coffee, omelettes with hash browns, rye toast and a side of corned beef hash. The coffee was a bit rough for me. I prefer a smoother coffee (not a Dunkin or 7-11 fan), but my hubby who adds cream & sugar thought it was fine. Our omelettes arrived very quickly. They were cooked perfectly, no browning, and their fillings were plentiful in the full sized omelette. They were worth the visit and the money. The hash browns were done perfectly too! Crisp, brown, but looked fresh, not like they sat on the grill just waiting for someone to order. They were nicely seasoned as well. The corned beef hash unfortunately, was returned and a request to remove from the bill was asked. I could hear they were not pleased with my request, speaking excitedly and loudly, but they did grant my request. We order corned beef hash frequently. Some places make it better than others (too fatty a product, or too much chopped onions can ruin a good corned beef hash); this spot had it swimming in grease! It was crispy in places, but the dish it was in was soaked in grease. Was this left to sit on the grill?! To make matters worse, the flavor was lacking. No point in making ourselves ill from the grease and not enjoy the taste of it. I don’t live in the area, so I won’t be back, but Im not sure if I would or wouldn’t go back if I lived...
Read moreI wish I could give no stars. This place is appalling. The food was cooked worse than my teenage nephew's food, if you call that cooked. Moussaka is just microwaved and was cold in the middle and had to be reheated. The beef parmigiana was ground beef with no spices or onions, or garlic. Nothing. The pasta was watery because it hadn't been strained fully. I felt insulted to have to pay for such disgusting dishes. The place itself is a dive. Its clientele seem to be seniors who might not have many choices around there, but surely there is somewhere better. Luckily for me, I won't have to waste my money there again. Oh, and the manager is so rude that he tried to defend the fact that his food had no flavor or...
Read moreWe went on a Monday mid-day for brunch as a group of 5. We hadn't made reservations, but they quickly accommodated our party by putting two tables together. Staff was friendly & efficient.
My husband & I split the corned beef Reuben. It was meaty and the bread was grilled to crispy perfection! They prepared it open-faced, already split to seperate plates. We might have preferred it closed and just cut in two, but no biggie.
Not sure exactly what our family members ordered, but everyone seemed happy with their food.
This was on an out-of-town trip in a town we probably won't visit again, so it's unlikely we'll return. But if we're ever nearby again, we would choose the Blue Angel. Highly...
