George Martin 1989 is an old school steakhouse, with an updated and upscale menu. The restaurant in true steakhouse fashion, is furnished with rich cherry wood panels. The pictures on the walls are classic, warm and inviting. With sleek lighting and a fireplace, this restaurant shouts old world. When I entered the restaurant, I knew this was going to be quite the experience. We were greeted by a lovely hostess and our waiter came with our menus, water, and a basket of bread with popovers.
Homemade popovers are such a treat. I have only had homemade popovers and that was in another upscale steakhouse. I tray of different butters and hummus just melted on these fabulous popovers. Our waited went over the specials. As I looked at their lovely selection of appetizers, each one sounded better than the other. I had the Upside-Down Onion Soup Fondue. It was dangerously delicious. Each bite on the bread was cheesy and packed full of onion flavor. This appetizer alone was worth the trip. I also had the Scallops Rockefeller. Perfectly cooked scallops topped with spinach, and fontina cheese just melted in your mouth. The wedge salad was just terrific. Crisp iceberg lettuce, buttermilk bleu cheese dressing with just the right amount of bacon. and red onion was a hit. This was one very flavor filled salad.
Our waiter was just wonderful. He knew the menu perfectly. His recommendations were outstanding. As we listened to his suggestions we ordered the Pork Jaegerschnitzel. Lemon panko crusted pork scallopini, homemade spatzle, red cabbage, mushroom pan sauce was just glorious. The pork was so thin and tender. The spatzele was phenomenal. This dish is something very similar to a dish my grandmother would make. The mushroom sauce put it all together. It was just divine. We had the filet mignon with a jumbo lump crab cake. The crab cake was fresh with huge pieces of lump crab meat and a dijon aioli sauce. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly. The meat was so soft, juicy and bursting with flavor. This dished was served with delicious mashed potatoes. As we ordered coffee and looked over the dessert menu, our waiter suggested the Pineapple Upside Down Cake with coconut sorbet and I choose the Black Bottom Banana Cream Tart. The Black Bottom Banana Cream Tart, topped with turbinado sugar and glazed bananas was a real treat. The bananas were placed on top a heavenly custard. The Pineapple Upside Down Cake is beautiful dessert that took my breath away. It was magnificent. Topped with an amoretti cookie, it was heavenly. The cake was rich, buttery full of pineapple and the coconut gelato was so refreshing. The compliment of flavors were glorious. The coffee was rich and delicious. This was a phenomenal meal.
The service at a restaurant can make or break a dining experience. The service at George Martin was exceptional. From the moment you are greeted to the moment that you leave, the service was just wonderful. This is a new restaurant that runs like a well oiled machine. From the manager, our amazing waiter, the gentlemen who served us and cleaned our table, everyone was lovely. This is a top notch steakhouse that can well hold their own with any steakhouse that I have dined with. I know that I will be back for a...
Read more12am Update: I did contact Doordash on this matter to make it right. Furthermore, why would the order be ready in 5-10 minutes when the order was requested to be ready by 845pm? The order was specifically requested to be ready by 845pm and yet the restaurant neglected to pay attention to what was clearly requested if it was ready a few minutes after it was ordered. Why was the order ready nearly an hour before then? The owner's argument is severely flawed when I had taken the proper steps by contacting Doordash to make things right. The owner problem should be with Doordash and not with me. One should not accuse someone of "playing a game" without finding out the full details of what had occurred. This restaurant clearly has failed in this regard among other things.
Let the people decide for themselves who they will believe for I have only stated the facts. YOU'RE WELCOME!
Original Review: I would give negative stars for my experience if it was possible. I made an online order and had to cancel the order due to ordering the wrong entree. Submitted a new order shortly after with the correct entree.
I made a new order with the correct entree and the restaurant refused to fulfill the new/second order claiming that they had to throw away the first order because it was already completed, which seems to likely not be possible because the first order was cancelled a couple of minutes after the mistake was made.
The restaurant should have communicated to me if they had started making the order. I would have kept the original order if they had started making the order and not waste food. The restaurant assumed I was making fake orders, which is completely untrue and I was falsely accused.
The restaurant made it seem like the order was ready and made my wife go there to pick up the order only to find out that the restaurant did make it at all.
The restaurant has not communicated properly with me. This could have been avoided if the restaurant made an effort to communicate with me properly. They should not treat anyone this way,...
Read moreGeorge White Resturant 33 Berry Hill Rd Syosset NY. My wife and I went last night. I never go out on Valentine’s Day but changed my mind to do something different for this year. I am so happy I did. We were met by the owner who introduced himself and shook my hand. I advised him I was early and we wanted to sit and have a drink first. He escorted us to the bar and advised me our table will be ready when ever we were. So far very impressed. We ordered drinks, the pours were large and the taste was perfect. $15 each per drink but it was worth it. Plenty of alcohol went into each drink. When we were done we paid our tab and the owner saw us stand up. He escorted us through a beautiful Resturant. It was dimly lite when many red heart balloons all over the place. Soft music with todays singers playing through there speakers. We sat down and met the owners wife who was our server. Introduced herself and advised all the workers they were family members. we ordered and the apps came out right away and were delishish. It was quite and the music they had on was awesome for having a romantic dinner. I had the chilean Seabass and my wife had the surf and turf. Also delivered about 15 min after apps. She checked on us several times to see that we were happy. Oh wait I forgot about the bread. Mmmmmm hot and delicious. Also home made. Time now over 2 hours and so relaxed. Ordered desert that they designed which was cannoli cream with strawberries and chocolate peices. It was delishish. We paid our bill and as we were leaving we spoke to both husband and wife owners who you can see they really love what they do. We will 100% go back and also recommend our family and friends to do the...
