I'm from Long Island and have been eager to try this place. Anyone on Long Island who listens to the radio has heard about the new hotel in Westbury and their new restaurant. During the holidays and before we caught a movie next door, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to see how good the place was and grab a drink. Do not get me wrong, the hotel itself looks beautiful on the inside and out and we were impressed with all of that......until we sat at the bar. Where on earth does the only bartender act as the main waiter as well? We waited at least 10 minutes at the bar for someone to even acknowledge us. After we were presented with the cocktail menu (on an ipad with no battery left) I was told they were out of the cocktail my boyfriend and I selected. We then decided to order a glass of wine and avoid the cocktail list. After 15 minutes and another disappearing act, I was told the wine I ordered was not available. In addition, we were also told "thank you" as the bartender/waitress was writing down all of the items they were out of and didn't realize how many things were missing off of the menu!! I told the waitress we would need another minute to decide (on purpose to plan our exit strategy). We couldn't leave this place fast enough and told her we were going to miss our movie. I was shocked how emtpy this place was in the beginning, but now it's perfectly clear why. I give this place 1 more year before it closes or they have some sort of intervention!! Perhaps I write restaurant impossible about...
Read moreThis was my first time at Marco Polo for Mother's Day brunch and my first experience was not a good one. I original mad reservations for 10 people a few days later I called back to see if I could upgrade my party to 18. The receptionist that answered my call said it was no problem. So as we arrive on Mother's Day we come to find out our reservations were never upgraded. Afther speaking to the mgr. He said he would need to divide my party up into 2 separate rooms. The mgr he explained he had no room to fit us all together that he has been booked for months. So as I look around the room I see about 3 empty tables which my party could have been sitting together. Then upon entering everyone was suppose to get a raffle ticket????? Hmmmmm I never received 1and neither did half my party and another party sitting across from us. The raffle proceed on with no apology from the mgr not the staff. The food was o.k. the bacon was greasy enough to give u a heart attack and the fried rice that was served was clumpy n sticky. The rest of the buffet was o.k. At the end I was not too impressed. I was completely annoyed when I arrived due to the circumstances how my party was divided. At the end we received 20% off the bill. Would I return most likely NOT!!!!! First impression...
Read moreToday me and my best friend decided to try a new restaurant near the movie theater since we have time before a movie. Upon looking at restaurants near the area Marco Polo came up so we decided to check it out based on the online menu. Upon entering the facility we were not greeted and had to ask a manager of the hotel of the restaurant was opened. Finally after getting seated at an near empty restaurant I noticed stains on the wall. After ordering chicken meatballs and a wrap we waited quite a while for our meal. The restaurant is set up that you can see the kitchen so we promptly saw when our meal was placed on the counter it took about 10 minutes for the waitress to hand us our food. KEEP IN MIND WE ARE THE ONLY PATRONS BESIDES OKE OLD LADY AT THE END OF THE BAR. The food was a failed attempt at Asian and Italian fusion but I was able to keep down the entree. The one star is for the amazing dessert. We also waited so long for the bill we almost missed the movie the only way I got my bill was to ask a bus boy to grab the waitress who had ...
