Poor business decision and unprofessional management I was recently at smugglers jack restaurant. They have the name correct for your experience you will get jacked for your money due to this mismanaged establishment. The waiters / servers were great accommodating and friendly . The issue was when time to pay for the bill . I was asked to pay for a meal I exchanged and did not eat or touch . I even had a conversation saying I would like to replace the dinner choice for another choice on the menu speaking to The owners son Brandon /Brendon .It was our waitress that stated he would fix the meal and it was understood the meal was to be replaced for the original meal. Then at the end of the meal in a large party group pay up to $1000 for the group meal. I was singled out and told that I must pay for the original meal I ordered along with the current meal billing . I explained the situation again and was very clear to the owner son Brandon or Brendon that it seems strange to pay for two meals when I canceled the first meal . He was not helpful or understanding and demanded the payment for both meals . I was very clear to the son that I wanted to replace the order and was witnessed by my entire dinner party . Brendon says this is business and that’s is the bill . I refuse to argue over the bill paid my bill in full and left this joke of a restaurant. In the end I will never return and have black listed this restaurant with all friends and family . The business practice that smugglers jack uses is unprofessional and will lose more customers in the future due to poor management by the owner son Brendon / Brandon and ridiculous billing . You get what you give and this restaurant gets 1 star . I feel sorry for the staff to work under management that has no clue of how to deal with people and practices illegal billing for a meal that was paid in cash . The customer is always 100% right all the time. Don’t spend your money here go to the next town . Smuggler jack is a joke and I hope the real owner reads this and speaks to his son Brendon/ Brenda and teaches him a name and reputation is more important than cheating people...
Read moreBeen coming here for a few summers now, the food is always great - fresh, tasty and fair portions for the price. Sitting on the water is always a beautiful view. Since outdoor dining is now allowed and my girlfriend and I have been working nonstop in NYC as essential healthcare staff and first responders, we were excited for a night off to treat ourselves and relax. The wait time for a table wasn't too bad, we grabbed two delicious drinks at the bar and chatted with other customers waiting in line. The owner was friendly and respectful and kept everyone socially distant. The problem started when we were seated at our table. As two people who worked in the service industry all throughout college and our early twenties, we are always patient and understanding when we go out to eat. However, we don't appreciate not being taken care of just because we are young looking or because we're just a two-top. We were looking to spend money and take care of whoever served us because we know how hard it has been for people. When we finally got the attention of the owner to ask for a sever, it had been about 20 minutes since we were sat down. The waitress that came over seemed annoyed and unapologetic that she hadn't been over sooner. We had waited so long we were ready to just order everything at once. Our food took a little longer than usual, but the restaurant was busy so it's understandable. Our appetizers and entrees were all incredible, but we had to keep asking for our server to come back over. I went to the bathroom to grab paper towels because she never brought us napkins. She barely spoke to us and it honestly ruined the experience. If I wanted to serve myself I would've just ordered take-out. However, the owner was super friendly and he alone made up for our server's lack of personality. We will definitely be coming back. Hopefully the staff will have a chance to settle in and improve. Give this place a try, the food and drinks...
Read moreWe have been to smuggler jacks before and always had a great experience. Today we went and decided we would stay on the boat to eat dinner. Upon arrival, there was a rather large dead animal in the spot we were pulling into, so we went over a spot. Im not sure if it was a raccoon, possum, bear cub, who knows... but we found another spot. After we were already docked and the server had come over to take our order, the manager came over and asked us to move to another spot (which was more difficult to get to and was right next to the dead animal they were trying to push away). We obliged, but were kind of annoyed that we were already in a spot and ready to order, and the stench of the animal was absolutely disgusting (but we get that he can’t control wildlife). We were talking aloud about the smell and he was offended, yelling to us they couldn’t help it and were trying to take care of it. The waitress came back to take our drink order, explained covid rules, etc. while two teenagers came over with a small killie net, attempting to get the animal into a garbage can. We had finished our initial drinks we were served and grabbed a drink from the boat. The manager came over and started yelling at us that we needed to leave, we were explained the rules, and we broke them. Dumbfounded, we asked what he was talking about. He explained we had been told we can’t drink our own drinks on our own boat. We tried to explain that we were not told that, but he insisted we leave. My father in law, who had recently undergone knee surgery, was trying to get the boat back into the water. The manager threatened to call the police if we didn’t get back into the boat and leave. It ended with a few choice words and he even ended up flipping us off... I have never experienced anything like it... Bianca, the server, was very...
