I have been looking forward to trying this place due to the high google Reviews, but it ended up being a disappointing experience. While, I'll give it the grace that it was a busy night this establishment is clearly having some issues that need to be remedied. I don't think we were the only customers that weren't satisfied and after reading some of the other low reviews that I had missed previously some of these issues seem to be reoccurring. From what I experienced/saw the key issues are:
Either understaffing or poorly trained staff (not all staff) female server was very good and sweet. Poor communication/No efficient system among staff This is a burger place- and the buns crumble upon touch. Please invest in higher quality ingredients.
Anyway, I'll elaborate a little further. A lot of the staff was very young, which is fine as long as they are trained properly. One young busboy seemed to be cleaning all the tables by himself until it got too busy and others stepped in. Two young girls seemed to be managing all the food distribution and they seemed to be very confused, but still nonchalant as the night got busier. One girl seemed lost delivering items and watched her drop off multiple items to multiple tables without providing silverware. I watched one table wait what looked like 10 minutes without being able to find someone to ask for silverware while their food sat on the table, they looked noticeable annoyed rightfully so. I also noticed poor timing between appetizers and entrees, and no offer to clear food off or wrap it among bringing the entrees too early. On an unrelated note I saw another table look annoyed waiting about 10 minutes for their check. Thankfully we didn't experience those issues personally, but I did wait about 10 minutes without a refill for my drink.
Like mentioned previously, female server was very professional, she kept a smile on her face although very busy. Both servers looked like they were spread very thin. I think with better training for support staff and more present management ( could not identify who manager was) place could have potential.
Please make sure to teach your staff that's not busy to check in on tables, pre-bus, offer refills, clear off tables instead of loading them with more food, provide utensils, and have good attitudes. The only staff member I saw with a truly good attitude was our server. Everyone else looked like they barely cared how busy it was and that people were having problems with their...
Read moreI visited Burgerology in Massapequa for my birthday brunch on a Sunday with a group of eight. Overall, we had a good experience! The staff was very welcoming, respectful, and made the occasion special by singing happy birthday, creating a great atmosphere.
Our group ordered the mimosa tower, which was enough for everyone with some having seconds. However, we had ordered the strawberry lemonade flavor, and it tasted like the classic. For $60, it was disappointing to receive the wrong flavor, but it was still enjoyable. I take responsibility for not questioning the order when it arrived, as I realized from the color it wasn’t strawberry lemonade, but I didn’t feel comfortable sending it back.
For drinks, I ordered the Patron Cherry Lime Margarita, which was tasty and had a nice balance between sweetness and liquor. It came in a unique Patron bottle-shaped cup, which was a fun touch.
Food-wise, I went with the build-your-own burger, and it was delicious. My only issue was that I requested it well-done, but parts were still pink. I don’t prefer undercooked burgers, so I took it home to cook it more. The tater tots were amazing and highly recommended! We also had a small hiccup with my friend’s chicken and waffles order; only the waffles arrived initially, but the kitchen quickly corrected it.
The brunch menu is limited to one page, and I wish there were more options, but the food was reasonably priced, and they didn’t add extra service fees. I look forward to coming back to try the lunch or dinner menu, as I hope it offers more variety.
All in all, the food was great, and despite a few minor mistakes, the staff’s hospitality and the atmosphere made it a memorable brunch. Would definitely...
Read moreBeen wanting to try Burgerology for a long time, and now that the new Massapequa location opened just down the street, we wasted no time and were not disappointed. Friendly, excellent staff all around from waiters to managers. Very accommodating of our party of five (2 adults, 2 kids, and a baby in a stroller). We ordered a few things to share so that we could try it all. Our girls liked their chicken fingers--and they can be quite picky, if that tells you anything. Sides: we thought the cole slaw was fresh, but kind of bland (perfect to add a little more pepper or stir in some hot sauce), and to be honest, we're unlikely to order the regular fries again (they were a bit cold and otherwise just okay). But, the side that wins the day, and we will come back for these alone: sweet potato fries served with marshmallow crème. Oh my word, so delish! We split the Mensa and Electron burgers, both cooked to perfection and incredible flavor. I'll get the Electron again, but not until I try some of the others first. Can't wait to try some of the appetizers, but our goal tonight was dessert. And what a goal it was! The campfire milkshake--so big it fed all four of us currently eating "people food" (as my 4yo says). This was one of the best specialty shakes l've ever enjoyed. Not overly rich and sugary sweet like others we've tried, this one actually, and accurately, tastes like a campfire. A perfect exclamation point to a...
