I have been a customer at Tai Show in Massapequa for over 25 years. My family and I have been there literally hundreds of times for lunch, dinners, parties, etc. Angie (if you’ve been here, you know who she is) knows us by name and knocks back Saki-bombs with us at our table. We have enjoyed great times there. That’s over now, as we will not be going back. Not because of the food, while that has declined to well below average over the years. Not because of the Sushi chefs. Not because of the tired décor, the empty fish tank (???), or the ridiculous fake cherry trees out front. It’s because of the utter lack of service and attention and the downright shitty attitudes of the servers. The all-female wait staff huddle in the corner by the kitchen station chittering among themselves instead of focusing on guests. When one of them does come to the table; there is a team approach so you never know who is coming, their presence is almost uncomfortable with dour expression and body language saying they are doing you a favor. We were last there on a Wednesday evening and the place was nearly empty. We sat for entirely to long for drink orders to be taken and again for the drinks to arrive. Entrees took nearly 40 minutes more to arrive and were brought out one by one while other servers stood and watched, which took another 10+ minutes. My meal finally came out cold as those at the table served first were nearly finishing up. The exact same thing happened a few weeks ago when we were there. What a shame that after surviving Covid, (although with a smaller seating capacity with the rear dining room closed) they show abject disrespect to very long-time customers.

We went to Tai Show Sushi on Friday night 3/2/18 with 2 other couples. I've been to this sushi restaurant a few times but this is my first review, however, every experience has been amazing and each deserved 5 stars. I'm glad we were able to get a 7pm reservation because this place was packed when we got there and there was a steady wait for a table for a while. As usual, the waitresses were all super nice and friendly and continued to bring us drinks and sake throughout our meal. The pickled cucumbers that they put on the table are out of this world! I would've been happy just picking on those and doing shots of sake all night. On my continued quest to find soup dumpling on Long Island, I asked if they made them and the waitress said they do, so I ordered it as an appetizer. Unfortunately, what came out was a steamed dumpling. It was delicious but not what I'm looking for. For sushi each couple ordered 3 rolls and they all came out on a big boat and they put it right in the middle and everybody was able to try all of the different rolls. It was nice because I tried about 6 different rolls that I wouldn't normally order and found out that I liked certain things that I was hesitant to try. Tai Show has been in Massapequa forever and will hopefully remain here forever. The cocktails get you loopy, the sake keeps flowing, the sushi is always fresh and delicious and the waitresses are always the best.

What used to be a good sushi restaurant is now washed up.

I come into an overall empty restaurant with a large empty fish tank (wtf) and got seated right away by seemingly uncaring waitresses.

I make it a rule to order 3 special rolls at any sushi place I frequent. When I received my order, I was quite shocked to see they looked like regular rolls. Almost no meat. Filled with the filler stuff you'd expect from a regular roll. And light on the rice!

My waitress was curt when I voiced my dissatisfaction. Went over to the other ladies and began to quite clearly gossip about me in whatever language they speak. I was forced to order sticky rice to fatten up my meager "special rolls."

NOTE: This place has always had a problem with the waitress gossiping but it's gotten quite intolerable.

If a restaurant doesn't care about me as a customer, I dont give it business. This place was great before covid but now is well on its on its way into chapter 9. Please don't give money to this dying business. Don't prolong its suffering any more than it needs. Try nagahama...
