The decor is beautiful, music selection great, and the restaurant is very clean. Waitstaff are friendly and eager to help. I ordered the breakfast potatoes and was very pleased at the taste and amazing texture- super crispy outside, and then the inside was just a lovely smush, not what I was expecting when I ordered potatoes. I was sort of expecting hash browns, not lovely giant chunks of potatoes, but I'm pleased with my choice. It's served with a house-made aioli sauce that has a mild flavor that doesn't overwhelm the spices on the potatoes.
I've now returned for dinner service and have received exactly what I expected- personable service, quality food, and a beautiful atmosphere. My mother-in-law got the nightly special of chicken which was wonderfully moist with a light and fragrant gravy, and I got the steak paired with a lovely cabernet sauvignon. The bread platter appetizer was beyond my expectations, with an entire roasted garlic bulb and honey butter that wasn't overly sweet. The star of the show is anything potato based for me, though, to be honest. The way the breakfast potatoes were done and the way the fries were done have just ruined potatoes from other places for me. This is an absolutely lovely place to go, and you're supporting a local, family-owned business. I will come back here every time I...
Read moreWe've had The Hog & Hen on our radar for a couple of months and finally made it in today for Sunday brunch. WOW! The food was so fresh and delicious. You could absolutely tell that everything was scratch made in-house. The burger was one of the best we've ever had. The house made hash was also amazing. The breakfast burrito has house-made breakfast sausage and is one of the best around. Joe knows how to cook and how to make a great craft cocktail too (we recommend the Cranberry Bourbon Smash). Megan (Meghan?) was a wonderful host and we enjoyed chatting with her and Joe both. We tried her orange cinnamon roll that was amazing. We're looking forward to going back for lunch or dinner next time to try the other menu. If you have not eaten here, you need to give them a try a.s.a.p. Well worth the short trip from Fairport for a change and some...
Read moreWas excited to try this place but left somewhat disappointed. It was 90° out and they don’t have any air conditioning so it was just as hot if not hotter in the restaurant.. I definitely wanted an iced latte since it was so hot but the espresso machine wasn’t working. We were the only table in the restaurant (other than 1 person sitting alone at another table) and we waited at least 15+ minutes for our iced coffees that were watered down. At this point we were way too hot to have a hot breakfast. We asked if they had any fruit we could have a bowl of. The server had to guess the type of fruit they had cause she didn’t know, and didn’t even end up having that as an option.. brought us out something different without informing us.
The staff was friendly and the decor was inviting but lacked elsewhere. Hopefully this is...
