My family and I went here last weekend. Nothing about it is categorically "bad"... it just felt like a strange atmosphere. The decor, menu, and pricing are all on the upscale lounge kind of vibe, but they also have several TVs playing sports games (this may not be all the time, it was the Knicks playing). Now we only have been there one time so I don't know how this plays out on a regular night. But the setting almost looks too classy to have guys yelling about the latest point or penalty so that was kind of strange. They seemed possibly understaffed as well, but the servers tried their best to keep up and our busboy was one hundred percent on point with everything. The food is good but it did seem like some dishes were priced fairly, while others were a bit too high for the amount you got. For example, I got the butternut squash ravioli (which was DELICIOUS, don't get me wrong) but it was 4 regular sized ravioli with 4 sea scallops. The sea scallops - cooked perfectly mind you - seemed like an odd flavor to pair with the warm buttery goodness of the ravioli, and were likely the reason behind the higher price of the dish (not exorbitant, just high for 4 ravioli) I would have gladly paid the same price for a full plate of the ravioli OR some other dish with the scallops. Also the menu didn't have a large variety of vegetarian/ vegan options. It's not a bad place at all, and the staff were all super friendly. They also had a DJ come in toward the end of our meal which again - meshed perfectly with the vibe of the esthetic of the place but not the "sports bar" side of things. Important to note though that the DJ played a nice mix of music and kept the volume where you could still hear the people at your table, which I loved. It seems like they maybe just need to choose their niche... sports bar or upscale loungey date spot. They definitely have a lot of potential in either direction. Wouldn't object to trying them out...
Read more3 stars is generous; the ingredients were high-quality, but the dishes were not prepared adequately. The description didn't match the items. Lobster roll promised mayonaise and celery, but was sauteed scampi garlic butter, which I normally might not mind, but it just wasn't that good. Most items arrived soggy and for some reason they put a napkin in the dish. The bag burst open and was all drenched so not packed well. Olives in the chicken, I hate olives and the menu didn't mention the olives at all. The scallops were undercooked unlike the nicely grilled scallops in the picture, and most items were bland. Calamari claimed to have a citrus glaze. Nothing glaze or crispy happening there, it was soggy and not very good, and it's hard to screw up fried calamari. After spending over $100/pp with tax and tip,...
Read moreNorth Pelham Bar and Grill is a gem! From the moment I walked in, I felt at home. The staff is incredibly friendly, and they genuinely seem to care about their customers. You don’t always get that personal touch at places these days, but here, it feels like a neighborhood spot where everyone knows your name. The food is amazing.
It’s not just the food and drinks that make it special, though. The vibe is warm and inviting, perfect for a casual night out. I can see myself coming back regularly. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor...
