Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Town of Queensbury

Went for an early dinner on a Saturday rainy afternoon. There was one couple ahead of us to be seated so our wait time for a table was about 5 minutes. Upon entering the restaurant we could see the bar was full and also the left side of the dining room was packed with families and screaming kids. I asked the host to seat us on the other side of the restaurant where it was very quiet with adults only and that seemed to be a problem to him. He really wanted to seat the two of us in the loud, packed dining area on the left side, but I refused to go there with him. The other (right) side had three couples, plenty of room and that’s where I wanted to sit, so he finally brought us over there. This was our first time at this location. It has been about 8 years since I last ate at the Latham, NY, Applebee’s location. I used to get “Car-side To-Go” once a week, but when they changed the salmon recipe, I stopped eating there because I did not like the newer version of the salmon dish they offered. We started off with a Whiskey Sour which was delicious. I ordered the Salmon fillet with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The salmon was so dry and overcooked! It was horrible! The mashed potatoes and broccoli were underwhelming and tasteless. They were barely warm! 👎 I only ate half of my entire meal. Friend ordered the 2 for $26, which ended up costing 2 for $29 because the choices he picked had an additional charge. He ordered the Mozzarella sticks appetizer, the Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp, Garlic mashed potatoes and Broccoli along with the Glazed Baby Back Ribs, 1/2 rack. He couldn’t eat the Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp. It was too spicy and the Chicken was too blackened for him. He ate 1 bite. The ribs he enjoyed. He didn’t order fries and didn’t eat them. He was also underwhelmed by the taste of the mashed potatoes and broccoli. Our server did not come by to check on Us/our meals until we were already done eating what we wanted. Meal cost with tip was $75. We will not be dining at any Applebee’s...

Pathetic. We arrived at 7pm and sat ourselves at the bar then waited 20min just to be acknowledged for a drink which came out wrong right off the bat. 15 min later we finally got our order placed. 15 min after that we still did not have our appetizers so server brought fresh fries to kill the time...OK. 10 min after that we got our app. The double crisp chicken wings were 1/2 crisp, veiny and tough but the flavor was there. In all fairness the fish n chips was good but missing the cole-slaw that was advertised as part of the meal. When I asked about it, our servers response was an UN-apologetic "We're all out", no substitute offered. The other meal, an 8oz bourbon steak with sauteed onions & fries was deplorable. Only about 5 - 6oz of the steak could be chewed the rest was grizzle. It tasted nothing like bourbon glazed steak.The fries served on my actual dinner plate were old. As for those sauteed onions, it was painfully obvious that the 'chef' was not a fan of onions because what was on my plate was a pile of sauteed onion skins, COMPLETELY UN-CHEWABLE! By 8:40PM the ordeal was over. This location bares NO resemblance to the inviting advertisements on TV. The staff is VERY UNCONCERNED and I'm sure that the 'Chef' needs to be replaced. If you cannot serve 100 people all at once then perhaps you should limit how many you seat. The entire staff seemed disconnected and overwhelmed to a point of NUMB. NO APOLOGIES OFFERED....NO APOLOGIES NEEDED, I...

The staff here was great. We got in just before two large parties of 8 and 10. We were greated promptly and seated just a short time later, about three minutes or so, as they were getting things ready for the two large parties coming in behind us. One of the large parties was seated right next to us and barely spoke a bit of English. The server, who was also our server, was very patient with them and helped explain things as best he could. Lucky for him, we went in knowing what we wanted and pretty much had our orders out and almost gone before the large party was even getting theirs.

On a funny note, a different server was given a paper airplane by a child at the table he was serving. He did as the child requested and threw it to another server, trying to be funny. Instead of getting the other server, however, it hit me. I think he turned six shades of red and began apologizing profusely. We just laughed it off and had a good time with it. He then brought over our appitizer and asked if we wanted him to throw it at me as well. We politely declined, of course, but it was all in good fun.
