So, I want to preface this review by stating that I have been shopping at SP for decades. I bought my first pair of Volkl skis from them when I was in high school. Last year, I stopped in to buy new ski boots. My ONE (!!!!!) requirement was that whatever brand boot I bought needed to have a 325mm sole. I stated it up front and repeated it. I explained that I have Atomic Redster Pro carbon fiber race boots. The type you have to take the liner out, lace them up, and step back into the shell. It's their true race boot, and some days, I don't want to ski in a boot that stiff. But I still want to be able to use them when I do feel like it. I explained that I want a boot that's more comfortable, but with the same size sole so I can use whichever boot I'd like to on any given day. The salesman said "OK, lets get you some options", and brought out three options. I settled on the Atomic Hawx 120s Ultra. It was comfortable and slightly softer. We then custom fit the boot, setting the canting, putting in shims, or shaving something off the sole plates. We then go to the counter, and I pay. AS I AM WALKING AWAY, the salesman says, "OH yeah, those are 320. Just make an adjustment on the binding, and you're good to go." I was surprised and disappointed. He KNEW THE ONLY REQUIREMENT I needed was that the sole plate be 325. I literally didn't know what to do. I left, and over a year later, I still haven't used them. There's nothing like blowing $700 on ski boots you'll never use.... I get it, I should have checked, but on the Hawx Atomic doesn't put the sole plate's length on the bottom. So, I TRUSTED THE SALESMAN to do the ONLY thing I asked him to do. The fact he waited until AFTER I paid tells me two things, he knew what he was doing, and he didn't care. That was a real nice, "bait and switch" there, feels very used car salesmanship. Needless to say, a close to 40-year relationship reached the end, I won't be...
Read moreI have rarely been as disappointed in any business as I am with Sports Page. I just bought cross country skis, poles, and bindings for a snowboard. When I got home, I examined my receipt in detail, feeling a bit of sticker shock and am very disappointed to see that I have been grossly overcharged for everything I purchased. They were supposed to be having a sale, and as the very helpful salesman brought me around to items of interest and quoted me various prices, the clueless girl at the checkout charged me $230 for cross country skis that were quoted to me as $170, $25 for poles quoted to me at $19, and $69 for bindings quoted to me at no more than $65 for a grand total overcharge of $70, even after I stood there and listened to the sales guy tell the girl how much each item should be. Apparently they have hired an inexperienced girl who doesn't listen to ring people up, so save your receipts and check before you leave so you don't waste time going all the way back to this place. I will not be wasting anymore of my time to ever shop here again.
Just to update, the manager's response is correct in that they were able to correct my issue over the phone, but when I first called, today, I got the same young woman who rang me up, and her answer was for me to drive the two hour round trip to come back in person. I had since been informed by a friend who also has a store that it would not be necessary for me to do that, so pressed for another solution, telling them to call me back after she had a chance to discuss the situation with her manager. He called and made amends today which I greatly appreciate. I will still recommend that people check their receipts, and listen when sales staff tells you how much you will be paying. Hold them to it. They do offer some great deals if they charge...
Read moreThey changed my life today.
I have a clubbed foot on my right side that is 2.5 sizes smaller than my other foot and nearly twice as wide, I also cannot bend that ankle and the entire leg is about 1.5” shorter than the left. As a result I just assumed all ski boots would hurt me for my entire life.
I have been skiing with these Rossignol All Track Pro 130’s for about a season and they hurt me worse than any other boot before so I felt it was time to do something about it. I have had boot adjustments before but they never seemed to do anything for me until I walked into sports page today.
I cannot remember the name of the man that worked with me but he was incredibly knowledgeable and started helping me almost as soon as I walked in. He explained all these different things to me about why my foot may be hurting and then would make small adjustments to the boot in order to fix the pain. He also noticed that I may need a wedge in the boot to make it so it’s easier to make turns since I cannot bend my right ankle.
He spent nearly an hour working on my one boot and today was the first day of my life where I wore a ski boot for more than 5 minutes and it didn’t hurt. He literally changed my life and he did it all for only $35…
I cannot express my emotions about this. This is truly incredible I am very very thankful for this ski shop and it’s employees especially the man that helped me...
