Denny's — Restaurant in Town of Queensbury

My family and I vacation in Lake George and although we have discovered some gems, we have found it difficult to find restaurants that are similar to our NJ area in proximity,food quality, price and hours of operation. Many of the really good restaurants in the Lake George Region either have strange days of operation (closed mondays and tuesdays) or the hours are not what we are used to (who closes a restaurant before 9pm?)..

Anyways we had gotten back from the Great Escape late, returned to our hotel and we starving..before we knew it, it was 9:20 pm. I panicked because we had not eaten anything of nutritional substance (unless you count the garbage offered at G.E because they ran out of healthy options but I will leave that for another review) all day. I called several places and to my surprise they were either closed or had stopped serving dinner..ahh!

I kind of wish I was back in NJ where I could access trusted diner cuisine at 1am if I so pleased..so we had to get creative and maybe a little ballsy..In my desperation I suggested Denny's...my husband practically rolled on the floor laughing...

Yes, you read right Denny's! Even I am shocked to write this review but I felt compelled as there are almost no reviews and I was impressed with the food/price/hours. We loved the fact that the menu had an array of fit and lean options for us healthy eaters and also for the not so healthy eaters.

My daughter had her favorite pancakes from the kids menu, along with a pleasant surprise a fruit and low fat yogurt smoothie for $1.99. No soda, or shirley temple or any other sugary option..the smoothie had fruit and yogurt no added sugar and it was really good!

Inspired by her, I ordered a mango smoothie which was $2.99 but larger and well worth it..awesome smoothie! I also had the fish tacos which were lightly fried but ingredients were simple with cabbage, avocado, tomato,and a bit of sauce. Husband had an avocado grilled chicken sandwich of whole wheat bread, he really liked it and at 520 calories..not too shabby my friends..

What really impressed us was that for our side we didn't want the french fries, onion rings or anything else fried so we ordered a side salad. When it came, holy moly it was huge.. This was no side salad with a few sad tomatoes and 1 onion sitting on top, I counted 6 cherry tomatoes,4 onion slices,4 cucumber slices, and croutons! They didn't go stingy on the balsamic vinaigrette like restaurants usually do.

I also had the strawberry cream cheeses pancake hush puppies for my dessert for $1.99 (6 of them). They were awesome, of course not good for you so two was more than enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. They can easily be shared between three people.

Our bill came up to $31.38!...There was no up-charge for the side salad, which most restaurants will up-charge you for healthier alternatives. This was the most affordable dinner we had eaten so far on vacation and we were really impressed..

So Denny's in Queensbury I...

I would give this 100 negative stars if possible...This has got to be the MOST HORRIBLE Denny’s I have ever been to and to be honest it will never go back to any because of this experience. Went in and waited almost 2 hours for food!!! On top of that servers rarely checked on us didn’t ask once how the food was you would think after waiting this long the food would have actually been good everything was disgusting over cooked eggs pound of butter on the toast cold food. Asked to speak to the manager she would not even come out and talk to us the server was getting stressed about it. Finally after 4 times demanding the manager speak with us she came out with an attitude only wanted to remove one meal?!? I mean hell I don’t need free food but still a 50.00 bill and nothing done about it?!? She is a horrible manager her name was Melinda didn’t want to do anything to recover the guest problem wanted to argue, disrespect, and not even care...still completely upset with this right now I will not let this go and I will be going even higher up!!!! Definitely would NOT ever recommend anyone waste...

My girlfriend and I stopped in for to-go build your own milkshakes this evening. It was awful. the girl behind the counter took our order and after about 15 minutes told us she was gonna go see if the shakes had been started yet. when she came out she handed my girlfriend one and said here is the chocolate and looked at me and said it would be a minute for mine. my girlfriend took a sip and it was my shake missing some ingredients i had ordered. I explained to the girl it was wrong who then had another waitress come up. she was very rude and told me that it was what i ordered and that she could put more stuff in it for me. I said "sure" thinking she was going to make it right. she came out and handed me a milkshake with melted ice cream and whole white chocolate chips on top. how was I supposed to get them threw the straw??? I'm very disappointed in this restaurant i visited earlier in the week which made me want to return for a shake but now I will never go back. The second waitress...
