November 15, 2023. Around 8:30pm. Bad customer service. My wife and I came for dinner. Usually they have good customer but not tonight. We came in and put in the corner table near the bar even though there were free tables everywhere. My wife needs to go the restroom. A server came and ask for our order, I said “I am sorry I can’t. I am waiting for my wife (pointing to her purse) but can we have two glasses of water!” She seem upset. But why? My wife came back but after ten to fifteen minutes we didn’t get our water nor a server came back.
Unfortunately, every staff (From the host to the other “servers” ) just kept passing us by. Finally we broke the silence by asking the host/busperson which pointed us to this Caucasian female staff in all black with dirty blonde why we have not receive a service. Then we got the worst response from a hospitality staff of Applebees “ Well your waitress sorest came there earlier!
Thus unprofessionalism astonished us. What did we do wrong then that she didn’t come back? Was the first server was hurt I didn’t order in the first place? Why? Did she want be to order WITHOUT my wife? How “un-gentleman” was that! So we do not deserve a respect , even two glasses of water, because we I didn’t order when my wife was not with me? Is this restaurant about their customers needs or their staff’s needs This lady, the way she spoke, we though has some authority..
It’s apparent that this lady knew how disrespectful she was that the bartender (an African-American staff) tried to save her by pretending he was our server. We never met him.
We spoke the manager, Jason, after we ran out. We cc are so hungry that we rather by a bread in Walmart next door. Shane on Applebee’s. We just moved here from the city, we love this restaurant but not Riverhead. Oh we like Christine, the female Caucasian server , she is the only reason we go there since we moved here. She us a role model. Everyone obviously was there “to work” nit to...
Read moreI normally like Applebee's and their food. First time at the Riverhead Applebee's. The place wasn't crowed and they didn't seem to be short staffed.
Things started off ok. The waitress came over we ordered something to drink and an appetizer. It took about 20 min. Kind of long, but ok. Then our waitress disappeared. Most of the people were standing around talking. Trying to get refills on drinks just didn't happen. It would be almost another hour before we got our main course. At this point we were just happy to eat.
I got the four cheese mac and cheese chicken penne. What a joke. Let's start with the chicken part. It's supposed to be like a deep fried chicken, only they forgot the chicken part. I was just eating deep fry nothing. Then you would think they can't screw up the four cheese mac and cheese except all I got was basically noodles. It also comes with a bread stick that was hard enough to knock on. When the waitress finally came back to get us another round of something to drink I mentioned how bad it was. Thinking they would at least offer to remake it, she shrugged her shoulders and walked away. My wife wasn't pleased with her order either. Since it seemed like no one cared, and we didn't even have a manager that normally comes around and asks how your meal was, we just figured we'd never come here again.
Again this is a shame as we've been to other Applebee's in the area and the food has been just fine with...
Read moreWhile it is a chain, the meat is always fresh, they have many local beers (on tap & bottle), the iced tea is made daily and is unsweetened (plain, not the flavors) & almost everything tastes awesome...here's a rundown: Nice cuts of steak cooked to the perfect temp (ask for a topping) Garlic mashed potatoes (always get as a side...so good) Bone in pork chops with a Indian-style mustard & honey glaze that are never dry Interesting & unique chicken dishes Grilled salmon steaks (this was a surprise) Real sweet potato fries that are crispy but not oily (most places can't do these) Great Apps: pretzels sticks (skip the beer cheese and get dipping sauces), a huge nacho platter, spinach dip, steak quesadillas, mini tacos in a crispy wonton shell But the real stars are the burgers. A good burger is my favorite meal and I have high standards. First, they use fresh ground beef (you can taste it), cooked on a griddle to sear in one or two ingredients for flavor (like bacon or red onions), add cheese and toppings on a potato bun. So awesome. The only fail are boring French fries, and if you want a flavored version its just spice powder sprinkled on top. Skip and get onion rings (big and crispy).
Staff here is really friendly & fast, and I never have a problem with wrong orders....
