This was a very solid diner with a few small hiccups. First, let me rave about my sandwich. My Reuben was perfect. Lots of meat and really flavorful. I had a ton of my sandwich leftover for a midnight snack. And it was somehow even more glorious at midnight! My friends enjoyed their meals as well. Nice big portions all around. I only have two complaints. The potato salad was not very good. In the restaurant's defense, I like a particular type of potato salad and our server said that if I didn’t like it, I could order something else. But I had so much of the Reuben left that I didn’t even try the potato salad until the next day. Maybe it’s because the Reuben was so delicious (and I grew up with a lot of different types of homemade potato salad) that I found it to be subpar. The only other complaint was that our server was really attentive at first, and then we waited a long time for refills on coffee and a long time for our check. So, she was great when she took our orders, and she really knew the menu and was super personable, but then we could not find her toward the end of the meal. Overall, I would definitely go back and order the Reuben again!

June 2024 at the Peconic Bay Diner: A Memorable Disappointment In June of 2024, I made the regrettable decision to dine at the Peconic Bay Diner in Riverhead, New York. My expectations were high, given the diner's reputation, but unfortunately, the reality was a far cry from my hopes. From the outset, the lack of attentiveness from the staff was evident. It took an excruciating 20 minutes before anyone even approached our table to offer drinks. To add insult to injury, the wait for our food stretched to a grueling hour. When the food finally arrived, it was a major letdown. My order of mussels marinara was nothing more than plain oil and garlic, a far cry from the flavorful sauce I had envisioned. My fiancé's wings were equally unimpressive, lacking any discernible flavor. The overall experience at the Peconic Bay Diner was deeply disappointing. Given the numerous negative reviews from other customers, it's clear that the diner's issues are not isolated incidents. Until there's a genuine improvement in both service and food quality, I would strongly advise anyone considering a visit to choose a different establishment. Probably the worst diner experience I’ve ever had. I knew eggs came in large and extra lodge, but I didn’t know eggs came in extra small! The home fries weren’t even cooked. It was like eating a raw potato that was browned on the outside. I felt rushed out of the diner. I was there for 10 minutes eating before the waitress come over and slept the bill on my table. That’s when I told her about the home fries and she didn’t even seem to care even though she did get me another portion. That one wasn’t much better. So I decided to leave without finishing. My recommendation would be to find a diner, any other diner, even if it means driving an hour, then eat here! The hour drive in any direction has to be worth it compared to what this place sells as breakfast.

Great food. Pretty good service. Just a little slow. Other than that no complaints. Everything was delicious. Really good menu with options for everyone. Our food was delicious, we shared a bunch of small plates! A little loud with all the tvs and music playing . Very clean!

Very nice pastrami sandwich with a side of salad. Relative to Queens diners there is double the meat for a similar price point, which is refreshing as I like to bite into my meat instead of having a mouth full of bread. The burger with a side of onion rings was also very satisfying and also an "upgrade," compared to NYC burgers, though that would be more competitive priced. I would like to give a shout out to my server, she was very attentive and had me scan in the link for this review.
