Lobster Wok — Restaurant in Town of Riverhead

I wish I could post No Stars at all: I has eaten here before and the food was OK, but today's lunch was horrible. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken - a dish I have enjoyed elsewhere hundreds of times. The chicken was so over cooked it was like chewing cardboard. I almost never complain, but this was ridiculous. I showed the woman and she actually claimed that it was supposed to be cooked like that! She said chicken and broccoli would be softer, but that's is the way Kung Pao is supposed to be! I gently disagreed and told her that I have eaten it many times - never had it like this. She took it back and a few minutes later returned with another serving that was only slightly better! Mistakes happen, but the lying is too much. I'm convinced that this chicken was cooked and re-cooked - perhaps from yesterday, etc. but it was basically inedible....

I recently just moved here part time from Jupiter Fl. I read the reviews from several of the local Chinese restaurants and tried a few of them as well but I kept coming back to this one. I'm sort of a food pill and usually order the same thing all the time so I can't vouch for everything on the menu but everytime I ordered my steamed chicken w/mixed vegetables and brown sauce on the side it was always excellent. Vegetables are not overdone and the chicken is not fatty. The people are always friendly. The only thing that caught me off guard was "cash only". I really enjoy coming to this place. I’ve never encountered any issues during my visits. The staff has always been kind, and I’ve never experienced any rudeness. Of course, there are cultural differences that people should be more mindful of — sometimes what might be perceived as abruptness is simply a difference in communication style. In my experience, being friendly and taking a moment to ask how someone's day is going goes a long way in building a positive interaction.
