This review is about two months late, but better late then never. I’m a local business woman in the Riverhead area “Construction corporation” so I have absolutely no axe to grind with these folks, but I’m here to talk about the lousy treatment my Husband and I received at this establishment. We have eaten here several times, along with me taking clients here for breakfast and had never had an issue up until our last visit. The Meals where what was to be expected from a diner, nothing out of ordinary. Upon entry we were directed to a booth that had just been cleaned, whipped down with a wet rag. The table was soaking wet when I sat down, so I took the napkin left with the clean knife and folk and wiped the table dry as I felt it was nasty to place my elbows on this wet table. When the waitress came over to us, I had mentioned what I had found and said to her I used my napkin to dry the table and you would have thought she would give me a new napkin. She shrugged her shoulders and said “Oh they just cleaned the table” are you ready to order? I would have expected her to have handed me a new napkin when I clearly informed her of an issue? Never a reply, never an apology, nothing. So I just went to an empty table and removed the napkin from another setting. She brings us coffee, takes our order, the food arrives and we never see her again until she drops the check on the table. No refills of coffee, no stopping by our table to ask is everything OK? Maybe she was having a bad day, maybe she don’t like her job, maybe she don’t realize that we the customer don’t come into a restaurant to wipe tables down, and get treated like we are not important. This is how we felt, so I picked up the check, and left a single penny on the table, walked over to the cashier and informed her that I had just left a penny on the table as that was what her service was worth, and that in all my years of dining out, we have never left anything other than a great tip, but there is always a first time. Their uncaring, unconcerned attitude has earned them the loss of my business. As small as it may seem, word does get around in our small town. They should know, this one undesirable simple to correct incident has cost them...

In June of 2024, I made the regrettable decision to dine at the Peconic Bay Diner in Riverhead, New York. My expectations were high, given the diner's reputation, but unfortunately, the reality was a far cry from my hopes.
From the outset, the lack of attentiveness from the staff was evident. It took an excruciating 20 minutes before anyone even approached our table to offer drinks. To add insult to injury, the wait for our food stretched to a grueling hour.
When the food finally arrived, it was a major letdown. My order of mussels marinara was nothing more than plain oil and garlic, a far cry from the flavorful sauce I had envisioned. My fiancé's wings were equally unimpressive, lacking any discernible flavor.
The overall experience at the Peconic Bay Diner was deeply disappointing. Given the numerous negative reviews from other customers, it's clear that the diner's issues are not isolated incidents. Until there's a genuine improvement in both service and food quality, I would strongly advise anyone considering a visit to choose a different establishment.

Read moreThis was a very solid diner with a few small hiccups. First, let me rave about my sandwich. My Reuben was perfect. Lots of meat and really flavorful. I had a ton of my sandwich leftover for a midnight snack. And it was somehow even more glorious at midnight! My friends enjoyed their meals as well. Nice big portions all around.
I only have two complaints. The potato salad was not very good. In the restaurant's defense, I like a particular type of potato salad and our server said that if I didn’t like it, I could order something else. But I had so much of the Reuben left that I didn’t even try the potato salad until the next day. Maybe it’s because the Reuben was so delicious (and I grew up with a lot of different types of homemade potato salad) that I found it to be subpar.
The only other complaint was that our server was really attentive at first, and then we waited a long time for refills on coffee and a long time for our check. So, she was great when she took our orders, and she really knew the menu and was super personable, but then we could not find her toward the end of the meal.
Overall, I would definitely go back and order the...
