Gardenview Diner — Restaurant in Town of Salina

Came here all the time with my Family and Boyfriend never had complaints. Until we got the rude waitress everybody I know always complains about but I gave her benefit of the doubt being very nice. Poor service and I don't sit at a restaurant that has you sit their for a very long time and people come after you with bigger orders and already have their food. Plus passes our table 3 times doesn't ask for anything so I tried leave civiliazed. Very hostal owner and waitress got in my face and threatened me because the whole time I basically didn't want argue with these people but that's all they did trying get a arouse out of me. Because I basically say your service is poor owner says this is how I run my buisness for 25 years. Wow I thought service and people who spend money more than the average person is more important guess not. Made us pay for food we never got but it's okay we were willing to. He also had nerve say why is he running Um my boyfriend was outside sitting at the car because he doesn't argue and stoop scumbags level. Lol the money wasn't a problem he's a truck driver and I build your technology but yeah that's what you thought instead of realizing your service is poor. Embarrassing and people looking at me because I refused argue and I told her not get in my face or threatened me and he told me shut up I said Um no I don't have to and you have no right tell me what to do I said idc your a poor buisness owner. If this is what you want uneducated violent people waiting on you and don't care about your buisness then go for it. Oh and we just wanted have good time this is new years day sad negative people like this try bring you down well sorry didn't work have a great day enjoy your karma.P.s More to the situation with them but don't want keep going on and on. Also if your mix race or anything don't go here either. Oh by the way I threw out your soggy ass garbage food exactly wasn't about the money or food got plenty of both don't need ya soggy breakfest. You must needed both...

This is a place I went to endlessly as a kid, and having not been there in maybe 10 years, it was an absolute shame to see the place so run down from what it once was. We sat down on filthy stained and incredibly tattered seats with no cushion left in them. Many of the benches were tattered and ripeed. We still had high hopes for the food because the place used to be so popular.

The food was very disappointing. I ordered toast, bacon, and hash browns. I let the server know my several food allergies and she repeated them to me. She was really friendly and great. She took our drink orders, both got fountain sodas, and then she came back soon with the drinks. Unfortunately my drink was served in a cup with caked on food particles so I had decided I wasn't going to drink it. My bf ordered corned beef hash, an omlette, steak, and toast.

The food arrived and there were pieces of fried egg mixed into my potatoes. I don't eat egg so I figured I'd just stick to the other things I ordered and bring it to the waitress attention when she came back. The bacon tasted like old grease and like the cook doesn't clean the cook top.

My boyfriend tried a bite of my bacon and had the same reaction. He tried his eggs, and sausage and steak and said they also tasted like old grease and taste exactly like the bacon. Nothing tasted like it was supposed to. The order of corned beef hash was forgotten and the waitress came to bring it back out.

At that point I didn't really trust that any of the food was going to taste different if I ordered something else. And the waitress was very nice I didn't want to be a bother to her and didn't trust the food now anyway. So my boyfriend ate a few more bites and asked to have a to go container. We payed and won't be back again.

Really disappointed. Food was awful and I know it's just a diner but the cook should really take more pride in the food they send out of the kitchen. I've worked in the food industry for years and this was just bad. I hope they can get their...

Waited 15 minutes to be seated which is pretty typical - no biggie. Waitress took our drink order without us seeing a menu first. Got drinks but no utensils to stir coffee, or menus to order from. Had to get both ourselves, even after I asked for a spoon. She saw we got two menus for the three of us and attempted to then bring us a third menu. We finally ordered and then watched others who got their plates have to get their own utensils, too. When we did get our utensils, she laid out 5 settings for 3 people. Waitress told us that they were short staffed (I get it - we are where I work, too) and that the people who were there "didn't want to work". No coffee refill. Tried to bring me a second saucer of creamers. We waited 45 minutes before leaving money for the drinks on the table and walking out, and after we watched people who were seated after us in the opposite room get their plates before us. A total waste of an hour. This is the 2nd time this week. Earlier in the week when I ordered soup, cheese sticks and a beverage, I was brought the soup and THEN I was told they were out of cheese sticks. The Waitress asked if I would like to order something else, but neglected to show me a menu. What happened to this place? The rooms are small (7 booths and 2 tables?), so each Waitress should have been able to manage while sharing a busser. She certainly wasnt bringing food back amd forth because clearly it either wasnt getting made or she just never kept track of what should be going out. There is no method or routine for this Waitress to keep track of what she should be doing next or how to tend to her customers. It was difficult to watch, and we were hungry. Walked in at 9am and left at 10:15 with only drinks in our belly. We won't be back for a long while hoping for a staff expansion or change.
