The atmosphere and service were nice and our server was patient as well. The criticism is mostly about the food- the dessert was nice but most of the food was not up to expectations at all. The tikka masala and daal makhni were way too watered down and the it tasted like uncooked raw spices instead of getting that feel of spice in the food (iykwim). No flavor of any of the ingredients in any dish as well and I am a desi myself (with a love for spice) but it was like they put laal Mirch on top to make it ‘spicy’ instead of actually cooking it. The chaat had no papri and instead broken up samosa pieces even though I explicitly ordered the papri chaat but nonetheless it was fine. Went in with very high expectations of the food but it was not up to par. We tried the food and after the first few minutes we literally had the vibe of “we could make any of this way better at Home” and you know as a desi when that happens it’s not good and the food was definitely not even mid. I really hope it gets better tho cuz no hate o anyone just wanted to give a honest review...

I am on a limited budget since moving to NY and was craving Indian (which is my favorite). Wanted to treat myself today and after seeing mostly positive reviews I decided to try this place. Sadly I was beyond disappointed. I typically rate all restaurants according to the most popular dish and for Indian it’s Chicken Tikka Masala. This restaurant puts very little cream in their sauce and there were more large chunks of onion and pepper than chicken, which caused the sauce to taste like a tomato onion (think spaghetti) sauce rather than that quintessential masala. The peas in my rice caused my rice to taste more like peas then a nice full bodied basmati. So overall this meal tasted predominately like peas and onions....definitely not that wonderful spicey creamy chicken we all crave when ordering this particular dish. I won’t be returning to this restaurant, so being new here hopefully Syracuse can offer me an Indian restaurant that will satisfy my...

I've come here many times in the past. I've been disappointed the last few times I've gone for the dinner buffet. Our last visit was last Sunday. I really struggled between giving 2 or 3 stars (2.5 stars would be my true rating) . I decided on 3 for the following. The staff has always been attentive, respectful and welcoming. The dining area has always been clean and the food tastes good. My issue is that the last few times the food in the buffet has been cold. Either their steam table was not working properly or the food wasn't freshly cooked and was refrigerated before hitting the steam table. I'm more leaning towards the latter. I'm hoping they pay attention to these reviews, because I'm hesitant to return and starting to wonder what happened to the quality food they used to serve. I'll probably give it another chance in the future and hope to update my review with...

We were enthusiastic fans of India House and it's downtown predecessor, A Taste of India. Unfortunately, India House has closed its doors and we are currently looking for a replacement. We decided to try this restaurant and found that although nothing we ate was quite as good as that previously served at India House, it was nevertheless a very enjoyable meal. One criticism I would offer is that the sauces were a bit bland for my taste. I am not referring to the level of heat, but rather the complexity and intensity of the flavors in the masala sauce and the rogan josh sauce. I was happy to find that the lamb masala contained bite-sized pieces of onion and strips of green bell pepper. Novel in my experience, but very enjoyable. Also the lamb was tender and generous, and the poori bread and side salad were excellent.

Run, don't walk to this place! I am absolutely shocked at how empty the dining area was when I went because the food here is phenomenal. We started with the meat samosas. They were crisp on the outside, soft and super flavorful on the inside. They come in a pair and with two sauces, one might be tamirand and the other some sort of mint chutney? Not sure but both were delicious. We ordered the Chicken Shahi Khorma (yellow), Chicken Makhini (red), and garlic naan. It was served so nicely in two pretty bowls and came with a giant bowl of steamed basmati rice with peas. Everything was so rich, piping hot and full of flavor. Washed it all down with a mango lassi. Wear your fat pants because I couldnt even finish all my food 😂 this place deserves to blow up. 20/10

A fabulous flavorful spiced just right entree with oh so good chicken and amazing rice accompanied by disappointing sides. I probably shouldn't have ordered so late in the evening but my go-to restaurants have to be consistent with quality to make it onto my short list. The entree was worth the surprise disappointments so I hope to try Sahota Palace again someday. Raita was not raita - think it was a cheese dish, soups were thin and lacked the flavor I expected - veggie soup was thin, bland, not any lentils I could perceive and the chicken soup rated like Campbell's cream of chicken only thin and without the bits of chicken.
