This is an old standby favorite. The food is flavorful and fresh, and the majority of the staff is attentive, friendly, and pleasant. Last night was my first bad experience there- my friend had ordered the Tuna Affettato (a seared pepper crusted tuna appetizer with crisps on the side) as her main dish. She pointed to it on the menu specifically, and asked that it be brought out at the same time as the other main meals.
When it was brought out, it was a completely different tuna dish- a sandwich, from the entree section. She tried to be polite and ask that she just get the crisps that came with the other dish, but the waiter said he'd charge her for the whole dish if she wanted it. When he circled back a few minutes later, I mentioned to him that she'd asked for the appetizer, and that she was trying to be polite, but what she had in front of her was completely not what she ordered. He actually looked at her, and said "yes I realized that when you asked for the crisps, but next time you need to be more clear". And then walked away again. When the check came, he had charged her for the more expensive, incorrect dish.
This was a table of six, she had ordered $25 worth of other food, and the rest of the table had ordered full entrees and drinks. It was not a matter of anyone trying to be cheap. The difference in price was $3. But at that point I had to go to the front to ask that the charge at least be lowered to the price of the appetizer dish that she had not gotten, asked for twice, and been belittled over. The server interrupted our conversation and asked what the problem was as I was trying to speak with anyone other than himself, and took the check away to make the correction. Only when I got other staff involved did he try to do the right thing. It was really an uncomfortable experience, and while I do love this place it makes me...
Read moreCaution to anyone looking to have an event here - Susan the owner/manager is absolutely awful and downright disrespectful to customers. The fact that her staff, who are great and very kind, have to apologize for the way she speaks to customers says a lot about her.
This is the second baby shower that I have attended and was asked to bake for. The first one in March went off without any issues. The staff was lovely and super helpful. This time, the second I walked into the door, a woman who never introduced herself or asked who my mom and I were, started rudely speaking to us stating that she wasn't going to be overrun and that we were going to listen to her. We respectfully informed her that we didn't know what she was talking about and just asked if we could set up the baked goods for the event starting in 1 hr. We spent the next 10 mins getting verbally attacked by this woman, who we found out was Susan, the owner's wife, about how inconvenient this party was for her as it was taking up her tables, and that she was tired of getting taken advantage of. We attempted to speak respectfully to her to which she was unable to do for us until she finally realized that I required none of her staff, supplies or time to complete what I needed to do. Her wait staff stood by cringing as she would not listen to any of the attempts we made to tell her we would do and go wherever she needed. Eventually, she did come over and apologize for her behavior and admitted to the host of the event that she was extremely rude to us but it was extremely uncalled for and made the entire event uncomfortable. The waitstaff are fantastic, Susan should stay away from customers as I would never have or suggest anyone host...
Read moreI hadn't been to Il Forno in over 5 years and not since they renovated, but this visit was fantastic. The inside has a modern farmhouse feel with a rustic charm and is just perfect! We arrived around 6:30 on a Friday night and the place was packed! We didn't have a reservation, but we were immediately offered a high top by the bar. The hostess was kind enough to swap the stools for more comfortable chairs.
I have to say, watching the staff all work together was impeccable. Everyone looks out for each other and despite how busy this place was, all of the parties were tended to, us included. Everyone we interacted with was super friendly and multiple people kept checking on us throughout the night to make sure we had what we needed. Even the owner/manager came over to chat with us and make sure we were satisfied.
The food was absolutely delicious. We each had a salad to start, an individual pizza for the main entrée, and then split a pistachio ganache dessert. The cocktail list was also fun and enjoyable.
I will definitely return not just for the food, but also for the sincere hospitality this venue offered. Excellent all...
