I'm hesitant to even write this review, because I know Sweet Delites already has a lot of business, but I loved working with them so much and hope they have so much more success. My fiancée and I tried wedding cake from at least 8 different vendors, and I called easily 20 more places to inquire about their services. Sweet Delites was the winner hands down.
The wedding cake was absolutely delicious, was decorated exactly as we specified, the fillings were fresh and flavorful. The buttercream frosting is a tad less sweet than other bakeries, and we really liked that because it lets the cake shine. The cake itself was on par with any of the finest bakeries I've ever eaten at. Better than Magnolia or Silver Moon, more moist than Bouchon, less fancy but just as delicious as anything I've gotten from Dominique Ansel.
Service was absolutely exceptional. The kids who work in the store are the nicest, friendliest, happiest people. The more senior members of the store were very responsive to my questions, both over the phone and via email.
Price point was excellent. They seem busy enough, and are certainly good enough to justify a price increase.
And they went over the top to deliver the cake on Memorial Day Sunday after their bakery closed.
We love this place so much, and will be ordering cake and pastries again from them for many...
Read moreAbsolutely atrocious customer service.
Why, you ask? Well you see, apparently this is a cash-only business. That in itself is ridiculous at place where orders cost well into the hundreds or even thousands of dollars. But the real problem? That they fail to mention their cash-only policy anywhere on their website, or when you call in to place an order. The first time they mention it is when you're standing at the counter, two days before Christmas, trying to pick up several hundred dollars worth of pastries.
What do they do when it turns out, having not been made aware of the cash policy and expecting to pay by credit card, you're four dollars and change short and don't have your debit card to hit the ATM next door? Do they say, "sorry about the confusion, Merry Christmas," and send you on your way? Nope... they sigh, roll their eyes, and tell you that you need to write up a promissory note and repay them by the end of the following week.
And then they call you, repeatedly, to "remind you" that you need to repay them by the end of the week. Over four dollars and change, on an order of pastries worth hundreds of dollars, when the whole situation was caused by their failure to disclose their cash...
Read moreI’m so disappointed! After being a loyal customer for many years the owner had the audacity to claim I placed the wrong order! I was forced to buy an entire cake and had to pay $45 when I just ordered a slice (special order because it’s gluten free) which would’ve been a fraction of that. How do you force a person to buy an entire cake?! This is an order I’ve placed numerous times and apparently she got it wrong but was too much of a coward to admit it. She didn’t even have the professionalism to come out and talk to me about it. She sadly had one of her employees speak to me about it. It’s a shame because the employees are nice and the cakes are good, but an owner of an establishment should know better! When owners choose to do business in this manner it affects employees and moral. You continue this ego trip and your destination will end up in having to close down your business because you’re going to continue to lose more and more customers. You’ve certainly lost...
