Sturino's — Restaurant in Town of Somers

We had a fairly good size party of 12 roughly for my mothers 85th birthday. They were quite accommodating but that’s about where the good part of the review ends. Despite everyone’s orders being taken at the same time the food was served at whatever interval they felt was fine. There were some people who were completely finished eating before others had even gotten their meals, possibly even their salads as I can’t remember. The same with the quality of food, the service was so odd as I can’t think of any other word to use that it completely overshadowed the quality of the food. I do know my wife wasn’t too impressed. This was a weekend night, the place wasn’t the least bit busy but we were afraid of being late for work on Monday so we didn’t stay for dessert. The only reason they got 2 stars is because I can’t remember if the food was any good so benefit of the doubt goes to their favor. This was a couple years ago so hopefully it’s improved. I stopped here for the first time on a Thursday evening. I sat at the bar and felt very welcomed by the staff. I ordered a glass of Pinot noir and was pleasantly surprised by the generous full pour serving! And it was only $5.50! I ordered one of the specials for the night - which was chicken Marsala. Everything was done perfectly and from scratch! It tasted delicious! As if that wasn’t good enough, the dish comes with TWO chicken breasts! The serving size was extremely generous! Ordered the lake perch with the famous potato pancake on the side instead of fries which was delicious. The dinner came with soup or salad and I ordered the salad and came with fresh greens and dressing was house authentic vinegar and oil. Also ordered a side of meatballs with sauce because they make a very tasty sauce and the meatballs. Had a brandy old fashioned that was done right! The Italian music brings you back to a day and time and was great! Nice people, great staff, excellent food, and a cozy place with a nice deck outside.
