Tokyo sushi hibachi&bar — Restaurant in Town of Somers

I have to update my review for this place. We just went there this Friday for our anniversary. We have been there many many times and that's because we usually love it. But this is our first time going since the pandemic. Right away when we got there it just didn't look as nice inside as it used to. But my real problem was the service for Hibachi was really lacking. Our Chef barely did any of the presentation that they usually do. It was clear he was really rushed and when I watched chefs at other tables they also were flying through the cooking without doing most of the typical presentation that they used to do. That's a real bummer because that's why people go to Hibachi is for the cooking show. We also got alcoholic drinks but no one ever came to ask us if we wanted another one the entire time. Kind of crazy on their part not to come and try to sell us more alcohol when we absolutely would have bought more drinks. The soup was super disappointing also. I used to love their soup! But the soup they brought with Hibachi was like dirty dishwater with very little taste and none of the pieces of tofu or scallions Etc that you typically expect from them. And then once dinner was over a woman just brought us all our checks. My wife really wanted dessert but no one even asked they just brought us a check and wanted us out. It just wasn't a great experience at all compared to how this place used to be. So be aware. Oh and they had sent my wife an email coupon for 10% off because it was our anniversary but when we tried to use it everyone looked at us like we had three heads and had no idea how to use it. Do not go to this place. Granted my family and I went to this place for a NYE dinner, the service and treatment we experienced was inexcusable. We made a reservation and ended up waiting nearly 45min-1hr for seating despite arriving minutes earlier than our reservation. I’m willing to let this slide considering this is during NYE. However, our waitress was absolutely nasty and rude. Again, I understand it is NYE and I empathize that she much rather be with family, but I, and many people have had to sacrifice important times with loved ones to make ends meet, and in those situations you either tough it out or don’t show up. So as soon as we get to our seats shes rude the entire time. Her lack of eye contact and body language immediately told me I knew this was going to be a terrible experience. She snatched the menus out of my parent’s hands; would intentionally look to the floor and ignore us whenever we needed a glass of water or utensils (typical things); she would slam plates and glasses when placing them; she would hand the check with the only attitude and then snatch it out of my mother’s hands when it came time to collect it. When the chef arrived he was an absolute mess. Food and sauce all over the place when serving us. He even sprayed cooking oil on my mother because he was so careless the entire time. Again, I understand this is all during NYE so foot traffic is high but in my experience we would typically have meetings about how we handle operations during high traffic hours to prepare. In conclusion, I will never come back or recommend this place. Overall, it is just an aesthetically grabbing restaurant with unprofessional staff. It simply isn’t worth it. Went with a party of 13 today. A few of us have been here before to pick up take out and the food WAS very good. Today we were celebrating my brother-in-laws college graduation so we were expecting some delicious sushi and hibachi. Upon arrival, they sat us at a sticky table with no utensils or napkins and the restaurant was extremely hot. We asked for utensils and they came quickly enough I suppose but the air wasn’t turned on for at least 30 minutes after we asked. Once we got our appetizers, we were missing a soup and salad and after going back and forth with the waiter he realizes he missed someone’s order and that now that persons meal will now be late. Once we received our food, 2 people’s dishes were cold and we sent them back and all they did was microwave it which made the already over cooked food , more over cooked.
