Budget Motor Inn — Hotel in Town of Carmel

Good news--We had a king-sized bed in a large room, including a microwave and mini-fridge and a small table with chairs. Lots of room for our luggage. The TV was a new flat-screen with lots of channels and there was free wi-fi. Sheets, covers, and drapes seem to be in good shape as well. They had recently repaved and repainted the parking lot. It is set back far enough from the road that there is no noise. ||||Mediocre news--The room smelled musty when we arrived. Running the A/C helped to clear out the smell. The edge of the newly-painted sidewalks was crumbling. The bathroom is tiny and has a shower, no tub. It was clean, but obviously old. Toilet paper was very thin one-ply. We received only two bath towels and two washcloths, no hand towels. There were three soaps, but no shampoos or lotions. There's no breakfast, but there is a diner just down the road that is open 24/7. ||||However, it was a good buy for the night and the price...

I had to go here and here is my honest opinion, there was a Indian man there that smelled of a mix of bo and weed then once you opened the door to the room you were hit with a strong smell of mold and mildew . After that as we were settling in for the night the heat came on and it probably stayed around 85-90 all night then we went to put food in the fridge and there was a half frozen moldy tortilla in the fridge okk well after that we went to do the morning bathroom duty and there were " friends " crawling out of the floor up the wall, after that there was no soap or tp there . The service was a 0 and the cleanliness was a 0 , if I could give this place negative stars I would. I wasn't expecting anything fancy but this is just disgusting. DO NOT WASTE YOUR...

I was a bit nervous after reading other reviews but the place is just fine. The motel is dated and could use some fresh paint in the rooms but other than that it was exactly what it needed to be- it was low cost and provided a good night's sleep. To counter some earlier reviews, the room was a non smoking and smelled fresh, and there were blankets provided- one just has to go hunting for them in the closet. The premises was clean and I felt safe.The owner/manager was professional, although the plexiglass window for check-in was a little unusual (something that might have been more fitting for rough neighborhood in an urban setting). I came by in the late morning on my way to work and he was fine with checking me in early. All in all, it was very basic but...
