Mahopac Village Shopping Centre — Local services in Town of Carmel

The male clerk at the front counter at Rite Aid in the Mahopac Village Center took my OTC card to scan it for the items I was buying. I had $36.83 on it. He said the item wasn't eligible to buy with that card but I bought the same exact item a month before & it went thru. So I said ok & went to get something else. When I went to use the card at the same counter not 5 minutes later, my balance was zero! I asked for the manager & he couldn't figure what his clerk did & couldn't put my money back on the card either. He said it should be on the card as I didn't buy anything bc it didn't go thru. I needed that money then. It was my money. I called the number kn the back of the card & the agent said they had no right to deduct that money without a purchase. Rite Aid never reimbursed the $36.83. In talking to my neighbor a few days later he said that same Rite Aid did that to him a couple of weeks before. We are both senior citizens. Beware if you use your OTC, credit or debit cards at Mahopac Rite Aid. Make sure YOUR money is not taken off your cards. Medium inset strip mall with restaurant, Acme supermarket, hardware store, barber, drugstore, pet supplies shop, post office, wine/spirits store, auto parts store and probably some I missed. Plenty of parking. A fast food site and a bank are located at edge of the parking lot opposite the strip and immediately off US-6. Typical "most basics for many people" local shopping at the transition from the occasional suburbs to the exurbs, without having to drive 15-25 minutes farther to larger shopping centers or the closest shopping mall.
