I mean... I never want to leave bad reviews but this was truly one of the most upsetting experiences I've ever had with an eating establishment. Came to Westhampton, and feel I have to clarify that this was Goldberg's Westhampton specifically since there a few nearby. Craig and Laura are the owners to make this more specific.
Came in with friends and ordered food that totaled out to $60, when we got to the cash register, Laura charged us $90– which was obviously shocking. We asked for an itemized receipt and she got extremely angry with us, refusing to explain why we were being charged so much higher. She would not give us a receipt, would not agree to split the bill among the four of us, and chastised us for inquiring.
We ended up doing the math with Craig, and it came out to $60 as we first thought. He looked at Laura and was like... "what else did you charge them for?" wherein she got nervous/defensive and threw a $10 bill at us, storming away. It was incredibly awkward. Don't get me wrong, Craig is a super nice guy and we had a lovely chat... but it all kind of fell flat when we got swindled so hard.
Had to put this warning out there– make sure you ask for a receipt and are certain with how they're charging you. Based on other reviews I see here they do this a lot... which is... illegal.
UPDATE: Hey, regarding your response... check the reviews again lol. Also this is so incredibly rude it just serves my point. Maybe apologize and don't rob...
Read moreAbsolute Crooks work here. The woman behind the counter (the owner) adds charges to your bill. When asking for clarification she freaked out and was very rude. When I politely listed out each item and how much they were, she was $18 over. She pretended she thought I got something else, wouldn’t print the receipt, screamed that she owned the place and told me not to come back. I’ve had this issue a handful of times where I was paying attention over the course of 15 years having a place out here.
I try not to come because the prices are already silly for very mediocre food but when you are feeling a bacon egg and cheese, youll sometimes bite the bullet and spend $15 on a holiday weekend for it (and by no means is that sandwich worth half that price) but to add charges on top is just sleazy and that’s kinda what they are there. For a long time this was one of the only places for breakfast/ bagels. The food wasn’t great the service was lousy and you were price gouged to no end but it was what it was.
With all the new awesome quality locations for food and beverage in WHB save yourself from this horrific experience and spend your hard earned cash somewhere else. I’m so happy to see whb growing and prospering and hopefully bad actors like Goldbergs Bagels will...
Read moreThe owner behind the cash register is rude and WILL over charge you. She'll will blame it on supplier shortages but 6 dollars for a large coffee is nonsense. On top of that, they have not once gotten my sandwich right and they sell expired juices. These people are crooks and I wouldn't recommend this place to absolutely anyone.
Update: thank you for your condescending reply. My order was as follows: Taylor ham egg and hash brown (you left off the hash brown yet charged me for it) for 8 dollars, bagel with light cream cheese and lox for 13 dollars, a medium container of tuna for 11 dollars and 2 large coffees that you stated were 6 dollars EACH and subsequently changed me for. That's a total of 44 dollars, total charge for my order was 52 with tax. Judging by the plethora of terrible reviews you have with similar scenarios as me, I presume this was on purpose.
The last time we ordered from you, our order was incorrect AND the juice I bought from your cooler was 2 months expired but I let go chalking it up as an isolated incident.
Obviously loose ethics are just standard practice and a lack of social grace, as so many other reviews point out, was proven accurate based on your...
