This was by far the most disappointing dining experience that I have had in recent memory and we eat out 4-5 days a week. We made a reservation for Mother's Day brunch and showed up 20 minutes early. We were seated by the hostess outside at a sunny two-top table. My wife was thrilled to be seated at a sunny table as there was a brisk breeze. We ordered something to drink and then it all went downhill. The owner Pierre came over 10 minutes later to demand that we give up our table because he needed it to combine it with another table for a party that had yet to arrive. When we said that the replacement table was not in the sun and that it was essentially in the doorway of the restaurant, he grabbed our menus and hovered over us. We felt his aggression and disdain for us and decided it was best that we find another place to celebrate Mother's Day, rather than let this ruin our day. He could have approached us with kindness and asked us pleasantly, with perhaps an offer of a drink to show his regret that he was inconveniencing us, and perhaps provide us a couple of alternate seating choices. But no not Pierre, because he acts as if he is doing you a favor to let you dine there. We were directed to sit in the shade by the doorway- that's it. We informed him that we that this would not suit us and that we have decided it was best that we dined elsewhere. I had initially decided to let the matter go so as to not ruin the day, but then I received a text that my card had been charged a $100 "no show" fee. That just added insult to injury and confirmed to me that it would be unfair to future prospective diners if I did not share this horrible experience. This is by far one of the rudest and most arrogant persons I have come across in some time- and to think he is in hospitality. Frankly, my radar should have gone up about Pierre when I saw him being rude and dismissive to his staff when I checked in to be seated. Well, at least there is...
Read moreI'll preface this review by mentioning that after not receiving a reply to my second email, I mentioned writing this review and the management maturely responded with "I'm so scared!"
We were seated by the manager and then asked our waiter to move to the shade, sitting side by side as the previous table had been, and like two tables down were seated. He agreed to let us move, and then the manager came out looking at us horrified and asked why we were seated there. He told us we weren't allowed, made us move, and apologized to the people he'd been trying to seat, making us feel embarrassed while everyone around us stared.
Upon getting our check, we received the wrong one three separate times. I finally went in to ask the manager to find us the right check and also explained how embarrassed he'd made us earlier. I'm pregnant and was shaking I was so upset. He defended himself and when I asked him if he'd like to simply waive our $80 bill, he dramatically said no. Any manager would know to make it right and simply let the client leave.
He then tried to get the correct check, coming back to me moments later asking what was in fact wrong with our check. I replied "The entire effing check. It's not our bill." and he said "fair enough..." and then wandered off again to try to find the right check.
While the response to my first email was curt and short, condescendingly apologizing and saying he'll use it as a learning experience, it did nothing to correct the matter. He had the opportunity to invite us back or cancel our check and didn't, and then the restaurant replied with the above statement when I noted I would dispute this with AmEx and post the review.
Go here if you want to be ridiculed and receive replies as such from establishments who clearly have no manners or common courtesy for...
Read moreBeen to Pierre's 3 times. The first time the kitchen was technically closed so we said we were fine having some wine while we waited yet lo and behold the server comes out saying no no, the chef said he can open early (it was 3 pm) and w head an amazing lunch. Second time we ordered the fettuccine and the mussels and they were on point! 3rd time was spectacular, the server was great, communicative and the food was fantastic. We came just because of the negative reviews bc we don't trust most reviews where it's a personal issue like taking a table that wasn't yours as you arrived early on the busiest day of the year for restaurants (mother's day) or getting mad that the check you received wasn't yours and expecting a full refund bc of it. Welcome to the Hamptons where staff is seasonal and the food may take longer than you'd expect. Sometimes the customer isn't right and they need to be checked rather than expect Pierre's to offer a full refund. Everyone is struggling, busy nights like weekends and holidays shouldn't give anyone the right to judge a place and warn others not to frequent bc every time we have gone (we are private chefs) we have had nothing but great food. Sure, cocktails are expensive, don't like it? Go have dinner in Oklahoma. This is the Hamptons, Bridgehampton mind you, so expect to pay top dollar for not so good service, most of these places aren't even open year round so I'm here giving our honest review saying go to Pierre's, get the mussels, the ratatouille, the fries (so good) , the Caesar, the bread (which is bought, not made in house hence the $8 charge), the mashed, the croque madame, legit everything is good, dont let pretentious rich "bow down to me" losers steer you away from something...
