Jan's Chinese Food — Restaurant in Town of Southold

I can say things like 'Best Chinese around' but that's what everyone writes, even in bad food joints. They could have no tongue and still write it. I myself am tired of seeing that written everywhere else and having a fight with my spouse over who has to run to the toilet first 5 minutes after eating local food. Seriously, everything between exit 22 and 73 on the LIE is AWFUL. Jan's comes to the rescue, but man why is everything else so bad... It's either grey chicken or wrong recipe like holy moly.

We live in lindenhurst and we drive to Jan's to get Chinese. That's about an hour of a drive. You know why we do it? Sometimes it makes more sense to burn a quarter of a tank, waste time driving, and eat Jan's and know it's going to be good than it is to get something where I live and sit on the toilet wondering when on earth these people will learn to cook a recipe like the way Jan's does. If you had their General Tso's, you know what I'm talking about. I wish Jan's could open up here too.

To be 100% honest here, their general tso's is 10/10 outstanding and chicken broccoli is 9/10 - on par with NYC Chinese, and of course a million times better than LI Chinese. Please Jan, open up in western...

Usually this is my go to take out Chinese food spot but last week I ordered for my family of 5 and one of the dishes a chicken egg fu Yung had several hairs in it. Not just in the package, but cooked into the egg pancakes!! Needless to say I will be giving them a break for a while in hopes they get their sanitary issues straightened out. Hair in my food is one of if not the most disgusting thing I can think of to find in something you are eating! Maybe it's just me but that is something I just can't get over quickly. I just wish I had a picture but truth be told, it was in my future son in laws food which he ate the next day so I really didn't have an opportunity to get a picture. And being he doesn't just make things up out of the blue, I have to believe he did indeed find hair in his food. Not good and very...

This place is horrible. They changed cooks and got different egg rolls. They are soggy with little filling. Food has no taste small portions We use to say it’s the best food. No more it’s really bad and it’s hard to find good chinnese take out. They always forget duck sauce the good one in the round plastic. Instead you get this horrible guck that has no taste.

This is a very disappointing place and if you complain they get mad. Go get your chinnese food elsewhere. They went downhill as far as we are concerned. Oh and the fried rice, Dry and is worse than boxed rice. Batter on the sweet and sour chicken had bad smell like frozen food. There were shrimp on my sweet and sour chicken.
