Savory Sweet Eatery — Restaurant in Town of Thompson

I have passed it a few times, but I’ve never stopped, for whatever reason. I didn’t feel like cooking so I found it on Door Dash and ordered the Beyond Burger on a ciabatta bun with sautéed onions and mushrooms and tomato jelly with a large homemade baked Mac n cheese for my kids to eat as a side, if they got hungry. Man, listen! This food was AMAZINGGGG.

It didn’t take long at all and there were utensils and extra napkins. I saw a little handwritten note apologizing that they were out of the ciabatta bun, but had replaced it with a pretzel roll, and their apologies. Things run out all the time at other eateries and either it’s not acknowledged, or they make a substitute without saying a word. This was that human touch and customer service I’m talking about. I appreciated it!

First, the burger was slamming. It was cooked right, the onions, and mushrooms were on point. The tomato jelly, pickles - all of it. They’re not chintzy with their food.

The Mac n cheese was phenomenal. I don’t usually order mac n cheese bc when it’s disappointing, it’s enough to make me want to drink and talk to my dog all night, but this was incredible. Gooey, cooked through, the sides and top had just the right brown crispiness. And inside, creamy and dreamy. Yep. I wanted to kiss it. I’ma be honest. I always lied to my boys and told them the Mac n cheese didn’t come, but you know how we mamas do with this God-like compassion and generosity.

Anyway, I called them to tell them I needed to speak to someone about my order and i know they thought it was a complaint, but it was hardly that. This is my new favorite go to. These folks make their food fresh, you can taste it. Thank you, thank...

Well, my experience could have been better. I want to start out by saying that my interactions with the staff were friendly and pleasant and this area needs a place like this.

I ordered two Stuffed Burgers and a large Mac n Cheese. I ordered mine to be well-done and my girlfriend ordered medium-well. My burgers (seemed to be two patties) were both very pink and luke warm inside. My girlfriend's burgers happened to look like uncooked hamburger meat. She ended up barely eating any of the Chris' Stuffed Burger because of it. I do not like burgers to be pink at all (hence the ordering of well-done) so my burger being largely pink certainly made me uneasy.

The large Mac N' Cheese happens to be pretty yummy and I'm happy about that - it's very cheesy!

With all of this being said, I was certainly looking forward to this place being good because I'm a foodie and this is right up my alley. I don't want to speculate, but perhaps the reason it was this way was because I ordered later at night (ordered around 7 PM and picked up around 7:40)? Overall the taste was good, and perhaps I will end up giving it a second chance...

Highly recommend all vegans visit this spot on their trip through the Catskills. We got the vegan chicken noodle soup with the bread bowl which was perfect for the fall/winter weather outside. The soup was delicious and good portion. We also got 2 vegan chicken sandwiches. For starters, the vegan chick'n patty is homemade in store and the BEST we've ever had. We travel often and have tried many Chick'n patty's, but this is the best by far. It tastes like real chicken (even better actually). I want to say this in the kindest way possible because I truly mean these are the best we've had, but the sandwiches were a bit over spiced. These sandwiches are the real deal and so flavorful on their own. They don't need all that sauce on the sandwich because the flavor is so amazing on its own. Next time I would request no seasoning/sauce on my sandwich because we enjoyed the sandwich so much just as it is. The sauce just takes away some of the beautiful flavors that the awesome cook created! Can't wait to return to this spot on...
