It is totally out of character for me to do this, but I feel the need to share an experience that my family and I had this past weekend. Every year on the anniversary of my gram passing away we go to the cemetery, and then we pick a restaurant that reminds us of her and go to dinner. This year we decided to go the the Olympic Family Restaurant, which was always a late night favorite of hers. Each of the four of us ordered something different (steak and eggs, chicken fingers and fries, a cheeseburger and fries, and pancakes, eggs, and ham) and none of us noticed that anything tasted out of the ordinary. Within a few hours of us leaving there my mom said she did not feel well, and a few hours after that she was violently ill. At that point we all just assumed that something she had eaten just didn't agree with her. Fast forward to later that evening/the next day, when now all four of us are violently ill. My mom, my uncle and myself were able to handle it and by today are all mostly okay. But as most of you know Christopher is currently going through chemo treatments and has a severely weakened immune system. Because of this his body wasn't able to handle it, and he ended up at the hospital. First in the emergency room at Buff Gen, and then eventually he was admitted to Roswell. The doctor told him today that he believed he had food poisoning. So my mom decided to call the restaurant, just to let them know what had happened. She was not looking for anything from them. This is how her interaction with the OWNER of the restaurant went.
"He said since we all ate something different it's impossible that we got sick from his food. I said I felt sick within an hour of leaving there. He said I wouldn't have gotten sick that fast if it was food poisoning. He said he ate there twice on Saturday and he didn't get sick and a lot of his employees ate there and none of them got sick. I told him Christopher was admitted to Roswell because he got so sick and that the doctor said he thought it was food poisoning. He said doctor's don't know everything. And that the doctor couldn't possibly know if it was his food that made him sick. After he annoyed me I mentioned how much our bill was and said it was a lot to spend for 4 people to get sick. He said our bill total was irrelevant. He said he's been there over 40 years and nobody has ever gotten sick from his food. He kept saying 'my food'. At one point he went as far to say that no matter what 'I will still not admit that it was from my food'. He also said he doesn't care about reviews."
You will notice that he showed no concern for any of us at any point, even after being made aware that the situation ended with a stage 4 cancer patient being admitted to the hospital. Like I mentioned at the start of this, I NEVER do things like this. But my mom called simply to make them aware, since it was obviously a pretty big issue. Since we didn't eat the same thing it seems like it was probably a cross contamination issue or something along those lines, and she simply thought he might like to know to prevent it from happening in the future. Even if he truly believed it wasn't from the food, he could have easily said "I am so sorry to hear that you all got sick, thank you so much for bringing it to my attention." Instead he decided to be rude, condescending, and dismissive. At this point we won't ever be returning there, and I urge you all to think twice before visiting either of their...
Read moreFoods great, waitresses do a wonderful job. Coffees never empty waters always full. I very much enjoy coming here every Monday. I usually come when they first open and haven't seen the manager lady (Connie) but I did today. It's usually a wonderful experience. Unfortunately Connie has a miserable attitude and is absolutely rotten to her staff. Seems like she can't handle stress or something. She starts yelling or speaking to the staff in a belittling manner, it was rediclous and rather infuriating to watch. No one should treat people that way. Seems like the staff isn't happy when she's there also seems like Connie doesn't like her job much. The waitresses are still very nice to the customers and very attentive but observing from a distance it's apparent Connie is a negative influence on the resturants moral. She wasn't very nice to the customers either. Very short, and dismissive. When I was paying, she snatched my credit card out of my hand then tossed it on the counter infront of me instead of handing it back to me after she swipped it. I tried being nice and taking how she was today, you know common courtesy, she just replied with fine like I was irritating her. Like really? For a moment I wanted to say something negative like pull the stick out of your...... but I didn't, no sence in partaking in her toxic behavior lol. I get it we all have days but wow what a piece of work. It's unfortunate the ladies have to work with someone like that as they were all very nice at least the few I had contact with and they were all hustling. Overall great customer service from the ladies, they do a great job and the cooks make delicious food. If Connie's there next time I might skip and go elsewhere as her miserable, rotten attitude put a shade over the whole experience. She needs an attitude adjustment or to find a new line of work. Connie's the vertically challenged lady with regular cloths working up front at the register. But don't worry youll know who she is by the bad attitude, she...
Read moreMy family and I went in for dinner tonight 06-27, the restaurant only had a few other tables full and as we were waiting on our food I noticed every table was complaining about their food being wrong. I became nervous at that point. Our food came out and my daughters food wasn’t prepared correctly (cheese quesadilla no onions or peppers came with onions and peppers), my husband got the combo souvlaki and his steak was supposed to be medium but came well done, our sons breakfast order was ok, I noticed my open faced chicken souvlaki had green peppers on top which I thought was odd but whatever. When my husband and I put the “Greek” dressing on our food we noticed it was very thick and not at all the typical oil consistency, we tasted it and it was very similar to Italian dressing. I even went over and grabbed another bottle of dressing thinking maybe we had received the wrong kind and it tasted the same as the first one. To us what makes a souvlaki different from a regular salad is the dressing. Aside from the terrible souvlaki which is one food a Greek restaurant should get right, our waitress was extremely apologetic. She told us she had received a few complaints recently about the dressing. I mentioned it seemed that everyone in the restaurant since we’d arrived had been complaining about the food and she agreed that the kitchen staff was messing up. She was the only good thing about our experience there tonight. She very nicely removed my souvlaki from the bill considering I had eaten all of two bites, she also was very quick to have my daughters quesadilla remade. I felt very badly for the wait staff tonight as it wasn’t their fault we had a very lousy experience there. We will not be returning which is very sad considering my daughter plays softball at a field nearby and it would be...
