Taste of Mexico — Restaurant in Town of Ulster

I’ve only been here once, ordered the chicken flautas by telephone for take out, not knowing it’s essentially a food truck on an Ulster Ave parking lot.So I passed it by then came back and saw it right next to the Jalapeno Grill Mexican restaurant. It was easy parking right in front, fast service by a charming and gracious host, and quick exit back onto Ulster Ave. Easy-peazy, and the food was delicious for a very reasonable price. I had a quick look at their menu online, and it is very interesting with a few dishes I am unfamiliar with and some items not seen in other Mexican restaurants. It’s also open til 9 PM, later than most other places, which appeals to my appetite biorhythms. Definitely going back for more, and hope they survive and thrive!

Ok, I’ve been back to Taste of Mexico food truck, and it’s been all great! I tried the Gorditas, which are like corn cakes sandwiches with pork chicharrones, cottage cheese, and lettuce inside. Toasty fried, but not oily. You get three, and they’re super delicious! Beef tacos (3) with rice and beans were up to the standard, a lot of great food for a low price. I also tried the house made Jamaica drink made of hybiscus tea served in a LARGE cup; what a discovery! On a hot day, this is one of the most refreshing, cooling, and delicious beverages one could possibly enjoy IMO. It was a perfectly tasty, sweet, icy, and dreamy drink! I’m looking forward to trying everything on this menu! Quesadillas made with fresh squash flowers, melotas (never experienced), birria tacos, quesabirria, tlayudas, tortas, street corn in a cup, I’ve got to try it all!! Highly...
