Denny's — Restaurant in Town of Wallkill

So, my husband and I used to go here pretty often. Then sometime last year they had a complete change in staff and the food suffered horribly from it. Last night we thought we would try them again after not being there for almost a complete year. Just for dessert. Because they used to have this chocolate lava cake we really liked. Unfortunately the chocolate lava cake isn't an item they have anymore, completely understandable. But, they didn't have a single dessert item! None at all! The first thing I had asked for: chocolate chip cookie dough pancakes. Completely out. (Also apparently a breakfast item, not a real dessert.) My back up: cheese cake. Completely out. Which I didn't know about for a solid 10 minutes until I has to ask the waitress myself after she passed by me a few times, because I had changed my mind asked if I could get strawberries on my cheesecake. The third thing I asked for: the skillet cookie thing. Completely out. And, what bothered me the most about it was we told them that we were only there for dessert. Each time I asked for something they didn't just inform me that they didn't have anything. They had us sit and wait for 23 minutes for NOTHING. That's right almost half of my time waiting was for a cheesecake that wasn't even coming. I could visibly see the waiter and waitress look at eachtoher and talk after speaking to the cooking staff then look at me. Just say you don't have it and move on. We would have just left.

My husband ordered strawberry pancake puppies (which is a breakfast item I guess?) and we were told they had to thaw before they could cook. Maybe that why they just kept us sitting there for so long? He had said that because they didn't have something I wanted that we could go. I had asked if he really wanted those things and he said no. But, we ended up just taking them to go because they were done by the time we were fed up snd wanted to leave. We tried them in the car. Not at all worth that kind of wait. Not...

Haven't been to Denny's in years, so I didn't know what to expect. VERY DISAPPOINTED. The reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1, is that the skillet meal I ordered, when it finally came, was ok. There were only four tables in play when we walked in with our party of four at 4:25pm on a Sunday, so there were many open tables. We were seated at a table where the floor was a filthy mess (unfortunately didn't notice this until the end of the visit). Picture is attached to this review. When I looked, I noticed the floor under many of the other tables was also littered and dirty. We ordered our drinks and meals and were encouraged to order an appetizer, because (we were told) the items we ordered would take a while to make. WHAT?

Our food took about 35 minutes to arrive, and some of the order was incorrect. Mashed potatoes were barely warm, coffee was burnt, smelling horrible, and tasting worse. Our server was the ONLY good part of the visit. He made every attempt to make things better, even brewing a fresh pot of coffee. One of the servers dropped a fork and, instead of picking it up, chose to kick it along on the floor all the way through the dining room into the back room, clanking all the way on the tile!

When we explained our experience to the hostess/manager at the register, an apology was offered along with excuses, but no discount or other offer was extended to "make things right". The total cost exceeded what we would have paid at any good diner. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.

Will never eat here again. This establishment is NOT...

Worst experience ever !!! Went there lastnight for Thursday night kids night and the server was rude and nasty. She Came up to me with a dirty look on her face . I already knew the way she was acting was like she wanted us to get out . She was like what you want? Me and my daughter were thirsty. I tried to order us drinks .She tells me o the kids drinks aren’t free. I’m like ok that’s fine .Then she refused to give us any drinks until we put in our whole order.(I’ve been a server my whole life. I know that wasn’t true at all). She then comes back like 5 min later to take our order .We then waited over 20 minutes for our drinks. They Never came . My daughter got up and started drinking juice out of a cup that was left on the table from some other kids. I got disgusted . Now I’m talking loudly like over 20 minutes and nothing to drink . We just got done walking the track and taking a shower. We were thirsty thirsty . Never had a person tell me they couldn’t serve me a drink until I ordered my whole meal and still never gave us anything to drink. I understand they are low on staff and prety much just hiring anyone but come on now. You can’t be hiring people like that. People who purposely make the customers feel like we are bothering them because they simply don’t want to work. I’m sweet and I tip good too. Such a shame.
