Luca Trattoria & Pizzeria — Restaurant in Town of Warwick

UPDATE 07/26/2025 (3 stars):

Overall quality of food and service has taken a hit over the past few years. Whether the turnaround of counter help or the higher demand for pizzas and food, the overall experience is less consistent than it used to be.

(+) There still are more than a handful of people working at Luca who are exceptionally polite and helpful to the customers and patrons who show up for good food and service; some, even going out of their way to accommodate hungry customers' requests/needs, especially if there are kiddos involved.

(-) Some of the staff appear friendly, but don't give equal attention/care to the food or customers as others do. To that end, after popping in for a few slices (Sicilian and 2 plain), the staff manning the oven got to work tossing in my slices; however, he was more interested in socializing with his female coworker than heating the pizza. Before I was finished paying, he had my slices on the counter, boxed and ready for take away. What seemed like good service actually was the opposite because, arriving home 5 minutes later, come to find that all 3 slices were cold and not heated through (though I'm not sure what I was expecting after a 60-second oven trip). A disappointment of a meal, for sure, and a reminder of why Luca no longer is my go-to for pizza, despite its closer location to home.

Consistency is king and this is the most recent experience at Luca that echoes similar episodes of the past. If they can pull it together, it would help the customers gain confidence in the quality of food and service that we hope to receive each visit.

disappointed. I went here around 8pm on a Wednesday 3/1 after a long day at work. I’ve been meaning to try this place for a while because I wanted to possibility use them for several catered events I will be hosting this year. When I arrived I asked for the gluten free menu which they advertise they have. The hostess/waitress said they are “working on” the gluten free menu but proceeded to say that everything on the menu but the eggplant can be made GF.. then she walked away. When she came back I ask about the sandwiches and gluten free bread. She ask the man making pizza standing next to her (an older man with dark longer hair and a mustache) and he seems annoyed my question, kind of rolled his eyes and said no, we don’t have gluten free bread and the both turned away..I kind of just stood there for a little bit not knowing really what to do next because I didn’t know what to order, being that the young lady said everything could be made gluten-free, than it turns out the sandwiches couldn’t, so as I stood there for about 2 mins, no one acknowledged me so I just ended up leaving.. very weird and awkward.. When someone has food allergies, please treat them with some respect. If you don’t wanna deal with people with food allergies, please don’t list that you have a gf menu on you website etc. It’s a shame, I do a lot of events and like to use local businesses, but this is one I’ll...

On Friday, April 29th I ordered Buffalo chicken hero with cheese fries and I was very disappointed. The buffalo chicken sandwich was literally swimming in a pool of what tasted to me like plain hot sauce. There was so much buffalo sauce that when I bit into the sandwhich, all the contents fell out. There was hardly any lettuce and tomato on the sandwich either. Be mindful I had ordered this sandwich once before and it was fantastic, but it seems like they can’t be consistent when under pressure from having too many orders. Due to the hero having so much sauce, it was completely soggy and was pretty gross

Moving on to the order of cheese fries that I ordered. I was very happy with the fries at first until I got to the bottom of the tin and the fries were swimming in a puddle of oil. I wasn’t very happy with that. I can understand a little bit of oil, but all the fries on the bottom were covered in a dressing of oil. I’m very disappointed because every other time I’ve been here I’ve enjoyed their food. I’d rather wait the extra time and have my food be prepared right then it be rushed and be prepared like it was last night.

Let me add the that the owner is very friendly and almost let me walk out with my food for free😂, but I wouldn’t of let him. I would’ve told him that I didn’t pay yet. Anyway, please be more consistent. I don’t care that I have to wait for my order, just...
