We're sad and disappointed. Had such high expectations based on experiences at the old place and the continued strong passion of the owner. It's very loud and echoey inside and comes across as unfinished or something, certainly not warm and inviting like the old joint. We ordered burgers and fries, real simple. As soon as our waitress put the burgers down we both smelled fish. I looked around at the other tables to see if maybe they had just gotten couple servings of flounder or something. But no. I figured okay. Maybe it's the fries if they were fried in the same oil as an order of fish sticks or something. Wrong again. It was kind of puzzling. It was not a very strong smell but it was definitely there and definitely lasting. Not just a passing thing and we both smelled it. Okay, we bite into the burgers... Definitely not fish... But I'm not sure if it was actually completely meat either. Maybe they mixed our order up with the impossible Burger type thing? Or it was burger meat with some sort of filler? I don't know. Taste and texture were both off. I wish I could say we will hurry back because the owner clearly has put his heart and soul into this place. I felt so bad for him I almost pulled him aside but wasn't quite sure how he was going to take it.
Also, as one turns into the driveway, the place looks kind of like a junkyard and very unfinished. Need to get the junk cars and all shipping containers out of there.
So sorry I mean all of this in a positive, constructive way and hope to be able to return in the future and have the awesome experience I expected and the owner certainly...
Read moreI'm a long-time fan of Yesterdays and I'm thrilled that they have reopened in a brand-new location on nearby Elm St.in Warwick NY. The Good: The owners have succeeded in recreating the look and feel of their former location on Main St in a significantly larger space. Menu is fairly simple. The Split Pea and Ham soup was great and my wife's French Dip Sandwich was tasty.
The Not-So-Good. It's apparent that Yesterdays, like a lot of businesses, is struggling to find qualified help. Our server was very young and inexperienced, working in a new restaurant. She will improve as she learns answers to FAQs from patrons. Our appetizer (steamers) and my soup were brought out simultaneously with our entrees which made our dining experience less than optimal. The steamers were bland. My fish and chips entree was disappointing as the two pieces of fish, though tasty, were very small and were soggy/spongey instead of crispy. My wife's French dip sandwich was fine, though it did not come with au jus on the side, which is the point of ordering a French Dip sandwich. We asked our young server for a side of jus and it was brought fairly quickly.
I'm really rooting for Yesterdays as the owners are really nice people. I hope they are able to fine tune the quality of food and service so that this new location succeeds as a worthy successor to their...
Read moreThis was a hot mess. We did a phone order. The burger was so overcooked and served on a cold untoasted bun. Not a single condiment on the burger, no ketchup, no mustard, nothing. The chicken sandwich… meh. So overcooked. The fish and chips… hard greasy nuggets of batter. We also ordered two of the portobello mushroom plates. It was described as “two portobellos, surrounded by peppers and other veggies” One of the orders came with one mushroom, and the other order had two. It was on a tiny bed of wilted spring mix with a couple of roasted red peppers. The fries… soggy from being so full of grease, not crispy at all, but they were definitely a fire hazard from all the oil they had in them. Even after heating in oven for a long time, fries did not crisp up because there were really just soft logs of fat. Stay so far away. However, the pub decor was humorous, the establishment was clean, and perhaps if you dine in you’ll have a much...
