Really wanted to like this restaurant, as the area is lacking in old school Italian and this place certainly has the atmosphere. My family took me here the night before Fathers Day. There was a show going on at Shadowlands across the street so we made sure our reservation was after the show had begun. Service was slow and entrees were sub-par. My entree was Chicken Francese, where you look for the punch of the butter/lemon sauce but instead it was a thin, wine heavy sauce that I wouldn't have guessed was the dish I had ordered. Another in our party had the Chicken Marsala and again the signature sauce was far from what one expects in that dish. Chicken in both were cooked a little over and that's fine, but in these dishes you cannot get the sauces wrong. My daughter had spaghetti and meatballs with the sauce tasting like "pizza sauce" ( it was San Marzano tomato so this may have accounted for that) and the meatballs were not firm but loose and eggy. It's almost as if the cook that night was new to Italian cuisine. The highlight of the meal was the truffle fries we ordered to share. The bread was also good, however it wasn't brought to us until we reminded the waitress after we had already gotten our entrees. Drinks are reasonable here and the tap beer is cold. Maybe I'd sit at the bar with a beer and eat truffle fries but I don't know that I would give the rest of the menu...
Read moreWe were camping near Ellenville over our anniversary and I selected Tony and Nick's for our anniversary dinner based on their ratings and their menu. That anniversary meal became a new cherished memory!
When I called to ask about/make our reservation I had mentioned it was our anniversary. Upon arrival there were plenty of open tables. We were asked if we had a reservation, I gave our name, at which point the gentleman walked us to a booth that had a reserved sign and was already set up with our menus and wine list, and he bid us a happy anniversary!
There were plenty of varied menu selections and a weekly specials page. We shared an Italian charcuterie plate, my Bride selected the braised beef ravioli, and I had the duo chicken and eggplant parm special. All were ample and delicious!
This restaurant is a gem. The food is outstanding, fairly priced, and I cannot say enough about the service. The clearly post their cash vs. credit prices and they didn't rush us out the door. The establishment is clean and has fun, nice decor.
You cannot go wrong!
EDIT: we took our desserts to go. Both the lemon and itItalian rainbow cake were two great choices! Tasty, moist, and not overly sweet - both delicious, even...
Read more3 stars for the ambiance and wine... Don't be fooled, the establishment looks cozy, but it's really a wolf in sheeps pajamas. My friend and I went on a Wednesday night, we like to support local businesses, so we figured we would eat here... bad idea! We ordered an appetizer and 2 chicken dishes. The appetizer never came out, and when we asked about it, the waitress ( who was unprofessionally dressed, and did not exhibit any kind of professional service) told us that the kitchen printer was jammed- we were 1 of 2 tables in the restaurant. Our chicken entrees were delivered to the table, and they both had a rubber texture, almost like it had been frozen and microwaved to defrost.Although we were disappointed with our entrees, we gave dessert a shot... we ordered the cannolis. I'm a lifetime lover of cannolis, these were by far the worst I've had. It seemed like the ricotta was not blended with the sugar correctly, leaving them chunky in consistency. I understand how important business reputation is in the community, and unfortunately I will not be back, and I do not recommend this establishment to anyone. On a good note, the wine was enjoyable, but not worth the $80 bill...
